CARTRIDGE DISASSEMBLY

Step 1Place the cartridge on a work bench withthe drum facing down. Using a Phillipsscrewdriver, remove the three screws thathold each end cap in place (see photo 1).

Step 2Using a small flat screwdriver, press andrelease the locking clips that hold both endcaps in place (see photo 2). Remove the endcaps.

Step 3Remove the PCR housing (see photo 3).

Step 4Slide the drum axle out of the tonerhopper axle holder on the drive gearside (see photo 4). Separate thewaste hopper unit from the tonerhopper unit (see photo 5).

Set the waste hopper aside, awayfrom the light.

TONER HOPPER DISASSEMBLY

Step 5Using needle nose pliers, remove thedoctor blade contact spring (seephoto 6).

Step 7Carefully remove the developer roller byholding the metal drive shaft (see photo 9).Remove the developer roller drive gear.

Step 6Using a small flat screwdriver, press downon the clip that holds the developer rollerbearing end cap (see photo 7).

Remove the developer roller bearing endcap (see photo 8).

Step 8Clean the developer roller with deionized airand a dry lint-free cloth.

Step 9Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the twoscrews that hold the doctor blade in place(see photo 10).

Step 10Clean the doctor blade, first using deionizedair, then with a cotton swab and alcohol.

Step 11Using a flat screwdriver, carefully pry out thetoner hopper fill plug (see photo 11).

Step 15Install the developer roller drive gear on thedeveloper roller (see photo 14).

Install the developer roller by holding themetal drive shaft (see photo 15).

Step 16Install the developer roller bearing end cap(see photo 16).

Step 17Apply a small amount of conductivegrease on the developer roller shaftand doctor blade where the doctorblade contact spring is seated (seephoto 17).

Step 18Install the doctor blade contactspring. The short bend wire has tomake contact with the doctor bladeand the long straight wire with thedeveloper roller shaft (see photo 18).

TONER HOPPER ASSEMBLY

Step 14Set the doctor blade on the toner hopperand install the two screws that hold the doc-tor blade in place (see photo 13).

Step 12Carefully remove the toner unit gears andset them aside.

NOTE: Take care not to damage or losethe supply roller shim (see photo 12).

Step 13Clean the toner hopper using deionized airor a vacuum.

NOTE: Inspect the retaining blade for anyphysical damage. If there is any damage,it must be replaced.

Step 19Fill the toner hopper with toner.Install the fill plug.

Step 20Reinstall the toner unit gears (seephoto 19). Set the toner hopperaside.

WASTE HOPPER DISASSEMBLY

Step 21Place the waste hopper on a workbench. Slide the drum axle out fromthe non-gear side of the drum (seephoto 20). Remove the drum fromthe waste hopper. If you plan toreuse the OEM drum, clean it with adry lint-free cloth. Place the drum ina protected area away from light.

Step 25Using a 1/8” drill bit, carefully drill into thesonic welds until the chip cover is able to beremoved (see photo 24). Trim the scrapsfrom the sonic welds of the waste hopperwith a utility knife and remove the plasticresidue from the chip cover and waste hop-per.

Step 26Replace the chip. Attach the chip cover tothe waste hopper with a small amount of hotglue (see photo 25).

Step 22Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the twoscrews that hold the wiper blade in place(see photo 21). Remove the wiper blade. Ifyou plan to reuse the wiper blade, clean itwith deionized air.

Step 23Clean the waste hopper using deionized airor a vacuum. Inspect the recovery blade forany physical damage. If damaged, therecovery blade must be replaced.

CHIP REPLACEMENT

Step 24Place the waste hopper on a work bench(see photo 22).

Using an awl, mark the centers of the sonicwelds that hold the chip cover (see photo23).

Step 27Apply padding powder to the wiper blade.Set the wiper blade into the waste hopperand install the two screws that hold thewiper blade in place (see photo 26).

Step 28Apply padding powder to the drum. Apply asmall amount of conductive grease to thedrum axle at the keyed end of the drum axle(see photo 27).

Step 29Install the drum into the waste hopper withthe drum gear on the opposite side from thechip (see photo 28).

Slide the drum axle into the gear end of thedrum, the non-keyed end of the drum axlefirst (see photo 29).

PCR HOUSING ASSEMBLY AND DISASSEMBLY

Step 30Lift the PCR with the PCR saddles, spreadthe saddles aside slightly and remove thePCR (see photo 30).

Step 31Clean the PCR with a dry lint-freecloth.

Step 32Install the PCR into the PCR saddlesand snap them into working posi-tion.

Make sure the PCR saddle springsare installed correctly within theedge of the housing (see photo 31).

Step 34Install the PCR housing (see photo 34).

Step 35Rotate the drum axle so that the keyed endwill fit into the gear end cap (see photo 35).

Step 36Apply a small amount of conductive greaseat the ends of PCR, the developer roller andthe supply roller shafts on the contact endcap side of the cartridge (see photo 36).

Step 37Install the end caps and the screws thathold the end caps in place.

CARTRIDGE ASSEMBLY

Step 33Place the toner and waste hoppersections on a work bench (see photo32).

Snap the drum axle ends into theaxle holders of the toner hopper sec-tion (see photo 33).
