APRIL 2012
VOLUME 53
Next Stop? When I stop to consider the many
ways that God has moved me over
the years, Im amazed. Sometimes it
has come with exuberant joy. At other
times it has been with great sorrow.
Nevertheless, His willand purpose for my
life has always been
accomplished; I
moved.
When I stop to
consider this particular
move in my life, I am
struck by the peace of
it all. Although Imsad to leave those I
love in Tonj, Im equally overcome
with joy --inexplicable joy! This joy
has sustained me. And as I look to the
future, Im at peace.
Many are asking me what is next.
Will I return to Sudan? Will I go to
another country? Will I step out of
the mission field for moreschooling? What?
The honest answer to that
question is I do not know.
Suffice it to say, that Im
in prayer about the open
doors God has presented
to me. There are a number
of directions I could go
from here. But for reasonsI cant quite articulate
right now, God is asking me to wait
--and wait patiently!
So I wait with a cheesy smile o
my face and with my hands stretche
out in giddy anticipation. What will
He place there next? What gift will
He regale me with? Whatever it is,
know it will be good. For He is gooMy heart is to return to Sudan
and start a birthing clinic where I ca
teach traditional midwives.
However as I prayerfully
consider the whys and hows of such
project, Im faced with some hard
questions. Is now the best time? Wh
kind of team should go with? Whic
preparations are needed and how? Will you pray with me?
In Him,
You will show me
the pats of life;In Your presence is
flness of joy; AtYour right hand are
pleasuresforevermore.

My first few days back in the
States landed me in Harrisburg, PA
for a Midwifery Today conference.
This annual conference teaches
midwives, doulas, and lactationconsultants the practical skills
needed to serve women from a
variety of backgrounds.
Since the classes were
intimate, I was able to dialogue
with a number of experienced
midwives and obstetricians from
around the globe.
Many of the key speakers are
famous in midwifery circles. Men
and women who have influenced
the way the art of midwifery is
practiced in the States and abroadtaught us day after day. What a
blessing to be able to attend it!
This particular conference
focused a lot on breech and twin
skills. Having had a number of
such cases in Sudan, it was
empowering to learn new
techniques in how to manage any
future difficult cases.
~ Easter ~
After saying goodbye to
friends in Sudan, I traveled to
Kenya for a few days where I
got to catch up with a few more
friends and scope out new
missions organizations. But itwas a short visit and I was soon
on another plane. This time it
took me to Switzerland to see my
sister and her family.
The days in Switzerland
coincided perfectly for me to
spend Easter with them for the
first time ever. What a blessing!
Although the time of Easter
egg hunts are over, there were no
shortage of fun activities to do
with my niece and nephew. Plus,
the Swiss just flat out know how
to eat!I pray that all of your Easters
were as amazing as mine.
