MAY 2012VOLUME 54
Roller-Coastin !To say that my time back in
the States has been a roller coaster
ride would be an understatement.
There have been
incredible highs,heart-stopping drops,
and a whole mess of
jostling about.
The truth is this
particular ride feels
more like a shuttle
launch to some
foreign planet --a
planet peopled with
care-free aliens fond of hugging! Needless to say, it has beenone heck of a ride!
Loud, loving, and fond of fast-
food, this exotic new sub-culture
has overwhelmed me with love --
and Im grateful.
And yet even thoughIve been back in the
States for almost two
months, I am no
closer to getting over
my reverse culture
shock.
Memories of Sudan
flood my thoughts day
and night. I can still
hear the evening drums beatingand still smell the early morning
charcoal smoke wafting by.
The taste of sirupy sweet
coffee is still on my lips. I lick
them slowly, lest the bold, roasted
brew fade too soon.
Even thought I struggle toshare these thoughts and memorie
with my loved ones, I know the
time will come that I will.
Until then... thank you all so
much for praying for me, and
patiently waiting for me to re-
adjust. I am so thankful to have so
many friends and family that I can
turn to in this time of transition.

Calendar:Mid June: Fly to WA to see
supporters and friends for a fewdays of catch up and rest.
July: Either Ill travel (I have
invitations to go to NY or AK) or
Ill take a few summer classes to
finish my degree.
Early August: Go to CO for
the missionary debriefing retreat.Mid August: Fly to
Mozambique to scope out
missions compound & pray.

ideas on inexpensive placesI can get dental work done.

RESTYoud think that Id
learn my lesson and just
rest already! But I
havent. I cannot help
but bounce from place
to place visiting andcatching up. It matters
to me that Im able to
do it in person.
However, as a result I
can often get exhausted. Please pray Ill get the rest I need.
REVERSE-SHOCKYes. I am struggling with this. In fact, my coping mechanism are
failing horribly. However, I realized that I just need to talk and get a
bit of counseling. As a result, Ill be going to a missionary debriefing
in Colorado soon. Its a week long retreat designed to help me re-
adjust and recover. Pray that Im able to get the most out of it. Thanks.
MOZAMBIQUEThere is a missions organization in Mozambique with an abandoned
hospital. Ive approached them about starting a birthing clinic (and
then eventually a midwifery school) in their facilities. They seem
open and eager, so Ill be spending August/September there. My goal
is to scope out the land, meet the other missionaries and missionsorganizations, and seek His face in the matter. Please pray with me.

Travel TrailsIn the last fewweeks Ive
been in Nevada, Arizona,Utah, California, and just
last night I got to New
Mexico.
Ive had the joys of seeing
half of my family, sharing atchurch, watching a cousinmarry, sitting on beaches,
catching up with friends...
and there is a lot more fun instore!
