Meditation and Preparation for Worship
All Flesh Is Like the Grass Words and music: Fernando Ortega, 2006
All flesh is like the grass, The grass withers and fades away. The glory of man like a flower That shrivels in the sun and falls. The Word of the Lord endures forever.
The Call to Worship*
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And with your spirit.
Pastor: The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their stronghold in time of trouble.
People: The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?
Pastor: The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
People: Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.
— from Psalm 27, 37, Isaiah 25, Zephaniah 3

We Praise Our Lord in Song

The Corporate Prayer of Confession Faithful Lord,
We confess that we have walked by sight and not by faith.
We have served in our own strength
instead of the strength which you supply;
We have relied on our own resources
rather than trusting you to provide;
We have been consumed by worry, guilt, and restlessness
because we seek to control our own lives
Rather than resting and relying on you for everything that we need
for life and godliness.
Yet we know that even when we are faithless,
you will remain faithful, for you cannot deny yourself.
Father, forgive us for our lack of faith,
and by the power of your Spirit work in us true and genuine
repentance that gives life to true and genuine faith.
Grant us zealous hearts, fervent devotion,
and tireless hope in the Gospel.
We ask this through Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Prayer of Thanksgiving
We Bring God’s Tithes and Our Offerings The Offertory: The Lord Is My Salvation
The grace of God has reached for me and pulled me from the raging sea, And I am safe on this solid ground, the Lord is my salvation. I will not fear when darkness falls, his strength will help me scale these walls; I'll see the dawn of the rising sun; the Lord is my salvation!
Who is like the Lord our God, Strong to save, faithful in love? My debt is paid, and the victory won; The Lord is my salvation!
My hope is hidden in the Lord; he flow'rs each promise of his Word. When winter fades, I know spring will come; the Lord is my salvation. In times of waiting, times of need, when I know loss, when I am weak, I know his grace will renew these days; the Lord is my salvation!
And when I reach the final day, he will not leave me in the grave; But I will rise, he will call me home; the Lord is my salvation!
Glory be to God the Father, glory be to God the Son, Glory be to God the Spirit; the Lord is our salvation!

MISSIONS FEATURE As a church, Highlands reaches out to local, area, national, and world-wide missions and
ministries. Each week, we’ll highlight one of those ministries and/or missionaries that we
support through Faith Promise pledges and our Strategic Outreach Budget.
This week, our featured missionaries are Mike and Robin McMahan, who serve with
the Presbytery of Bulawayo in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. They work alongside the national
church in church planting, discipleship, and economic empowerment initiatives. Mike is
pursuing a master’s degree in theology through Reformed Theological Seminary’s virtual
campus in order to better serve leaders in the presbytery. Please pray for the McMahans as
they proclaim Christ in both word and deed in Zimbabwe.
