CONT...
What is leaching?Leaching is the process of extracting a soluble constituent from a solid by means of a solvent.
What is recovery?
Process recovery of precious metals from leach solution.

KINDS OF RECOVERY
• Criztalitaton• Adsorption• Ionic Precipitation• Precipitation by Metals/Cementation• Precipitation by Gases• Ion Flotation and Precipitate Flotation• Ion Exchange• Solvent Extraction• Electrolysis
55
ION FLOTATION AND PRECIPITATE FLOTATION
Ion flotation was introduced by F. Sebba in 1959
Ion flotation and precipitate flotation is one of metal recovery methods from leach solution with the principle of flotation.
66
Basic Principles of Flotation
77
Cont...
The attachment of air bubbles to hydrophobic particles. The buoyancy of the bubbles then carries these particles to the surface, leaving the hidrophilic particles behind
88
A contact angle near 90° is sufficientfor effective froth flotation in most cases
99
γ(sv) = γ(sl) + γ(lv) cosθ
KINDS OF REAGENT
• Collector
The purpose of collector is to change properties of mineral surface from hydrophilic to hydrophobic.
e.g: fatty acid• Frother
The purpose of frother is to stabilize the bubbles formed during flotation so that the bubbles is about to burst after reaching the surface.
e.g: MIBC

Cont...
• Modifier consists of several reagent:o pH regulator to change the pH in the process
e.g: CaO, Na2CO3
o Dispersant to spread evenly the bubles in all direction
e.g: Na2SiO3
o Depresant to prevent mineral not to float
e.g: CN-, Zn2+
o Activator to activate the collectors.
e.g: Cu2+, Ca2+, Na2S
