  • BEGINNERS GUIDE TO THE RUBIKS CUBESOLUTION REMINDER FROM WWW.HOWTOCUBE.COM

MOVE 1, SOLVE SECOND LAYER Look for a 2nd layer edge piece in the

bottom layer. If you find one, turn thebottom to align the edge with a center, making a T.

If the color on the bottom of the Tmatches the side to the left (case1), domove 1 with the T in front to solve thepiece.

If the color on the bottom of the Tmatches the side to the right (case 2), domove 1 with the T on the left to flip thepiece.

When there are no solvable pieces on thebottom (case 3), do move 1 with anunsolved piece in the middle-left-frontposition to move the piece out of themiddle layer.

MOVE 2, MAKE A CROSSFlip the cube so the solved layersare down. Look at the top face:move 2 works when the left andback edges match the center.

Can you rotate the cube to get that pattern? If not, do move 2 with any face in front untilyou can.MOVE 3, POSITION THE CORNERS When one or no corners are correctly

placed, turn the top layer and checkagain. Keep looking until you find them!

When adjacent corners need to beswapped, orient cube with the bad cor-ners at the top-right and do move 3.

When diagonal corners need to beswapped, do move 3 twice, the first timewith any face forward.

    MOVE 4, FIX THE CORNERS

If no corners are good (A), start move 4with the top color on the left face of theNC corner. Think none left.

If 1 corner is good (B), start the movewith the good corner in the NC position.Logical, no?

If any 2 corners are good (C), put a badcorner in the NC corner with the topcolor towards the front. Think too for-ward.

Repeat move 4 until all corners are solved.MOVE 5, FIX THE EDGESThe setup is simple. If all 4 edges are bad, do move 5 once

with any face forward. When 1 edge is good, start move 5 with

the good edge on the left.

Turn Notation Letters indicate which side to turn:

Up, Down, Left, Right, Front, Back. Alone, a letter indicates a 1/4 turn

clockwise as you face the side. b (back) indicates a counter-clockwise

turn. 2 indicates a half turn, 180 either way.
