2009 was a record breaking year for solar investment - governments, private companies and international organisations all committed billions to this emerging industry. As the MENA territory receives so much sunlight each year, it is no surprise that this region is seeing aggressive growth. This trend is set to intensify in 2010.
MENA GrOWtH By tHE NUMBErS
• Egypt has a Combined Cycle Power Plant under construction that is expected to start operating in 2010. A 140 MW ISCC plant with a 20 MW parabolic trough solar field has been built
• Morocco has a $9 billion solar energy project underway, with 5 new sites throughout the country set to produce 2,000 MW of electricity by 2020
• Tunisia - 40 projects are planned for 2010-2016, 29 schemes financed by private sector with the rest by the Tunisian government
• AbuDhabi has seen $2 Billion investment in photovoltaic manufacturing
• MasdarandAbuDhabi - around 1500 MW of CSP is slated for development by 2020, with the first 100 MW already under construction at Madinat Zayed and due for completion in 2011
• Jordan - the JOAN1 project is scheduled to fire up in 2013 - making it the largest CSP project in the world using solar direct steam generation
• Algeria has set the goal of meeting 10 % of all energy demand through renewable energy by 2025. One solar thermal plant is under construction and two more ISCC plants, each with an output of 400 MW and 70 MW CSP, will be developed between 2010 and 2015
Solar energy in the Middle East is going to be a boom market for the next 10 years - with 9,000 MW of concentrated solar power capacity planned by 2020 and more than 40,000 MW by 2030. This is one market you simply can’t ignore.
To position yourself to win big in MENA you need first class information and excellent contacts. And that is why you need to attend the MENASOL 2010 Conference.
MENA-specific questions you need to address...
The potential in MENA is undeniable, investment is pouring in, and almost all governments now support solar projects – but how will this support translate into real world action? The biggest challenge of MENA solar, is that business works differently here. Local knowledge is the gold dust that will transform your opportunity in to a commercial reality. There are a number of questions that are critical to your success:
• HowandwhenwilltendersbeassignedintheMENA region in the short and mid-term?
• Whoarethelocalandinternationalfinancierseager to fund projects in this region?
• Whatuniquetechnicalandlogisticalchallengesarepresented by developing in desert environments?
• Whichtechnologiesaresuitableforwhichregions?
MENASOL 2010 has the answers you need to capitalise on this untapped market
At MENASOL 2010 you will receive two days of region specific solar presentations, case studies and workshops - policy makers, investors and technology experts will share with you the tips, strategies, real-life lessons and best practice guides that will help you get your MENA project off the ground.
Governments No knowledge = No project!
Get the low down on the various policies and regulations that affect solar development - the very knowledge you need to kick start your solar project - direct from the key decision makers from governments and national bodies you want to work with.
Financiers No money = No project!
Today’s financial climate is tough, but at this conference you will hear from banks, venture capitalists, equity investors and international organisations who are willing to bet on solar projects in the MENA region. Hear direct from them what you have to do to win their backing.
Technology Experts No expertise = No project!
Harsh desert conditions present specific technological challenges. Having limited MW’s on the ground, means limited experience that will burn a hole in your project’s finance and future profits! You have to get this right - that’s why we are giving you practical lessons and real-life case studies focused on the technological knowledge you need.
Off Takers No off takers = No project!
Discover which utility companies want to use solar, what needs to be done to overcome their concerns and how you can win their partnerships now and lock in long term relationships that could set you up to supply countries across the region and Europe!
If you are serious about succeeding in MENA you have to attend this event - there is simply no other way you can meet more insiders and hear more business intelligence in two days and at such low cost. It would take thousands of man hours and great expense for you to track down and make all these individual contacts yourself.
Don’t miss your chance to secure your future in MENA and be at the heart of the clean energy revolution.
