• Show the configuration of a hardware firewall such as Dlink DI 604
• Illustrate the sharing of a single Internet connection with multiple computers that are connected as a LAN using the firewall/switch
Overview of the Steps
• Connect the firewall to a client computer• Set the IP address of the client computer
to access the firewall• Access the firewall and set the firewall
properties such as the WAN IP addresses etc.
• Reset the IP address of the client from static IP to dynamic IP
• Connect the firewall to the WAN and LAN
Three Major Features of the Firewall
• Firewall using Network Address Translation (NAT)
• DHCP server• Switch
Setting Dynamic IP Address
• It is not absolutely necessary to set the IP address of the client back to “dynamic” state
• However, it would be a good practice to do so
