Battery charging takes place in the terminal or at the loading track via type 2 charging plugs, which are
fitted on each wagon side of the SWS-PowerBox®. The European standard charging plug for electric
vehicles according to EN 62196 allows charging at a standardised charging station or with an adapter cable
to CEE 32A 5-pin sockets. The software automatically switches to mains operation and charges the
batteries.

Maintenance and Service

Maintenance of the battery strings
The condition of the battery strings or their performance is checked quarterly via remote monitoring.
Every 3 years, the battery strings are replaced in an exchange procedure, e.g. the battery strings are checked for their performance
after replacement and damaged cells are replaced if necessary. These are then reinserted into the SWS-PowerBox®.
Maintenance of the SWS-PowerBox® and the hydraulic system
Maintenance of the SWS-PowerBox® is carried out according to the operating
instructions. Faults are detected via remote monitoring and, if necessary, any
defective parts are replaced directly. This also includes maintenance of the
hydraulic system.

✓
Handling with fuel
Comprehensive refrigerated trans-
ports by rail are possible through
the electrification of a container-
carrying wagon with the SWS-
PowerBox® for all common contain-
er types. No homologation, easy in
daily operation and emission-free.
Diesel-powered generators have a
high maintenance intensity and
require a dedicated planning of
refueling. In addition, there are high
noise and environment-damaging
emissions..
The electrification of a container-
carrying wagon by head-end power
requires homologation and the
continuous operations in the railway
system with high voltage is complex.
Unlike (A) and (B), this is not an
autonomous energy system.
Economical comparison

▪ Acquisition cost
▪ Operating costs▪ Energy consumption
▪ Handling costs during operation
▪ Maintenance and repair
▪ Spare parts due to wear
▪ Residual value consideration
With an operating runtime analysis of 8 years:
▪ Total operating hours: 20.000 h▪ Corresponds to 7,1 Jahren, 368 weeks or 2.576 days
▪ Operating times in hours for 46 operating weeks (KW) per year:▪ Per day: 8 h

CO2 charges as ecology tax
To protect the environment, CO2 taxes are already imposed in
46 countries worldwide*, and the trend is rising. This is
intended to force a reduction in greenhouse gases and create
incentives for switching to alternative energy sources.
Costs based on a track example in Switzerland
▪ Tax levy of 87,50 EUR** (96 Franc) per ton CO2
A block train in Switzerland with 22 diesel generators would
emit 7.172 tons of CO2 over 8 years and 627.550 EUR in CO2
taxes would be levied.
This additional tax on fossil fuels was not taken into account in
the above comparison but should be considered in the long
run.

Currentmarket trends ESG-Criteria (Environment, Social, Governance)
The banking and capital markets are increasingly focusing on
sustainable investments. They are defined by ESG criteria. This
means that investment decisions are no longer made on a purely
economic basis, but rather on ecological factors such as
sustainability and social impact, among others.
The enormous growth in demand for sustainable investments can
currently been seen in so-called Green Bonds. The supply is much
lower than the demand and thus the financing costs for the debtor
are currently lower than with conventional, non-sustainable
financing.
