TSRXPrifles(exceptTSRXPUSA,223Rem.)featureprovenControlledRoundFeed(CRF)withaclawextractor(Figure2).Theextractorsecuresapproximately¼ofthecartridgebaseandfullycontrolsthecartridgeasitentersthechamber.Thisdesignalsoallowsthecartridgetobeextractedevenifitisnotfullychambered.TheControlledRoundPushFeed(CRPF)boltdesignintheTSRXPUSA,223Rem.,liketheControlledRoundFeedbolt,securelycapturesthebaseofthecartridgewhenchamberingforastraightshotintothechamber,protectingthebulletpoint(Figure3).Italsoallowsforeasyextraction,evenifthecartridgeisnotfullychambered.However,likeapushfeeddesign,theCRPFextractoreasilyridesoverthecartridgerimfordirect-to-the-chamberloading.
Afixedbladeejectorgivesmorecontrolovercartridgeejection(Figure4).Unlikeplunger-styleejectors,thebladesystemallowsyoutovarytheamountofejectionforce.Pullsharplyrearwardontheboltandthecartridgeejectsclearoftherifle.Pulltheboltbackslowlyandeasilyremovethecartridgefromtheaction.

Somemetalpartsofyournewfirearmhavebeencoatedatthefactorywitharustpreventativecompound.Beforeusingyourfirearm,cleantheanti-rustcompoundfromtheinsideofthebarrel,receiver,boltmechanismandtheaction/chamberareas.Ahighquality,lightweightgunoilshouldbeusedtoremovethiscompoundandtogiveyournewfirearmitsfirstlubrication.

Makesureyouhaveacleanplacetoworkandputtheboltcomponentsinorderastheyaredisassembled.Disassemblingtheboltcanbedoneinthefield,however,therearesmallpartsinvolved,someofwhichareunderspringtension.
18.3. Bolt diSASSeMBly
1. Toremovethebolt,thefiringpinmustbeinthecockedposition.Ifitalreadyis,proceedtostep2.Ifnot,firstperformthefollowing:Withtherifleunloadedandthemuzzlepointedinasafedirection,cockthefiringpinbyraisingandloweringthebolthandle.
thatthecleaningroddoesnotstrikethecrownofthemuzzle,asdamagetothisareacanaffecttheaccuracyofyourrifle.
If,orwhen,foulingshouldbecomeheavy,itcanberemovedwithabrassborebrush.Diporspraythebrushwithnitrosolventandscrubthechamberandboreuntilthefoulingisremoved.Topreventbrassbristlesfrombreakingoff,thebrushshouldbepushedcompletelythroughthebarrelbeforebeingwithdrawn.
Tomaintaintheutmostaccuracyofyourrifleitisrecommendedyoucleantheborewithacoppersolvent.Modernbulletjacketsaremademainlyofcopper.Residuesfromcopperbulletjacketssticktothebarrelandrequiremorefrequentcleaning.Magnumcaliberswillrequiremorefrequentinspectionandcleaning.Swabtheboreofyourriflewithagoodcoppersolventusingthemanufacturer’srecommendedprocedure.
3. Afterallfoulinghasbeenremoved,thechamberandboreshouldbewipeddry.Whentheboreisdry,passaslightlyoiledpatchthroughitforpreservation.Afine,lightgunoilisrecommended.
4. Inspectthebarrelandchambertobecertainnopatcheshaveinadvertentlybeenleftinthem.Removeanythatremain.
5. Useasmallbrushorragtoremovedirtorotherforeignmatterfrominsidethereceiverandotherpartsoftheaction.Lightlylubricateallmovingpartswithahigh-quality,lightgunoil.Useoilsparingly,averylightfilmissufficient.Afine,lightgunoilisideallysuitedforthispurpose.
6. Wipeallexposedmetalsurfaceswithalightlyoiledclothmakingcertainthatallfingermarksareremoved.Fingermarksprovideaplacewheremoisturecanaccumulate.Themetalofthegunshouldreceivealightfilmofoilanytimetheriflehasbeenexposedtoweatherorhandling.

Shouldthe“safety”beinadvertentlyputintheforward(fire)positionwiththefiringpinremoved,thefiringpinwillbereleasedforwardandlockedintheforwardposition.Thismakesreassemblingthefiringpinintothebreechboltsomewhatmoredifficult.
Asthebreechboltsleeve/firingpinassemblyisscrewedbackintothebreechbolt,thecockingrampofthefiringpinmustcompress,thendecompressseveraltimesbeforetheassemblyisfullyscrewedin.Placethebreechboltonaflat,hardsurface,andusingthebreechbolthandleandtheheadoftheboltasasupport,firmlyturnthebreechboltsleeveclockwiseuntilitsnapsintoposition.Oncetheboltassemblyisinstalledintheactionandtheboltclosedandcycled,thefiringpinwillrecock,andthe“safety”canbemovedbacktotheintermediateorrearposition.
2. Inserttheboltintothereceiverasexplainedpreviously.
Yourfirearmisnowfullyassembled.Immediatelyconfirmthatthe“safety”isintheonsafeposition.Taketimetowipedownandcleanallexternalsurfacesasexplainedunder“CleaningandMaintenanceSuggestions.”

4. Depressthesmallbreechboltsleevelockwithyourthumb(Figure24)andturnthebreechboltsleevetotheleft(counterclockwiselookingfromtherearofthebolt).Ittakesaboutnineturnsforthebreechboltsleeve(andtheconnectedfiringpinassembly)tounscrewfromthebreechbolt.Carefullypulltheassemblyoutofthebreechbolt.
5. Beextremelycarefultoleavethe“safety”intheintermediateposition.
6. Itisnotnecessaryorrecommendedthatyoudisassemblethefiringpinassemblyfurtherthanthis(Figure25).
7. Carefullywipecleanandverylightlyoiltheassembly.Aerosollubricantsareexcellentforforcingoutanydirt,gritormoisture.
