Outline
Context
• Electromobility has still many difficulties to solve before its wide diffusion
• The issues are : economical, technological, psychological, environmental
• Batteries of present EVs are oversized regarding many cases of use in Europe
• Possible solution: EREV: Extended Range EV– To downsize the battery
– To give psychological insurance to users
– To provide more flexible use ?
3
Project objectives
• To identify actual needs of European mobility through existing data• To define and optimize the size of different possible solutions based
on EREV from uses’ specifications• To build scenarios of use cases• To evaluate the scenarios (use + techno)
– Environmental aspects (LCA)– Acceptability (sociological, economical, …)
– Recharging facilities

Expected outputs - Achieve and disseminate the global evaluation results of the studied solutions - Provide coupled technical and human elements for car manufacturersand policy makers

WP1- Analysis of car uses
Gathering and aggregation of information of travel behaviour and car useageData from Existing and ongoing surveys from France, Germany and Austria
9
According to different scenarios of use , we will analyze/simulate the potentialof car fleet that can be switched to EV or Range extended EV.
DD.MM.YY 10
ObjectivesDefine and optimize by simulation different solutions based on EV with Range Extender and corresponding to the different types of use specified in WP1.
WP 2- Simulated sizing and optimization of technologies
The resulting potential vehicles will be declined in terms of:
•performance (range, power, energy consumption, possible pollutant emission)
•optimal sizes and characteristics of components (battery, Internal Combustion Engine, Fuel Cell)
