Trade River Equestrian Campgroundoffers40campsiteswithpicnictables,fireringsandhorsetielines.Electricalhookupsareavailableforanadditionalfeeatsomesites,andfirewoodisavailableforpurchase.Vaulttoiletsandwaterarelocatedthroughoutthecampground.On-siteself-registrationandadvancedreservationthroughReserveAmericaareavailableforcampers.Thecampgroundandtrailsareopenyear-round,butroadsarenotplowedduringthewintermonths.

• Barrens Loop(brownsigns)isthe21-milemaintrailoftheTradeRiverEquestrianTrailSystem.Thetrailtakestheriderthroughforestedandbarrenshabitatandiscomprisedoftoteroadsandfirelanes.Thetrailisratedeasywithonlyonesteephillalongtheway.

• Sunrise Shortcut(greensigns)dividestheBarrensLoopinhalfforthosewhowantashorterride(approximately12miles).AfterleavingtheBarrensLoopTrail,this3-mileshortcutmeandersthroughscruboaks,pineforestsandupintosomehardwoods.Ridersfrequentlyviewbirds ofpreysoaringoverhead.

• Wolf Creek Trail(redsigns)isa5-mileloopthattravelseastfromtheBarrensLooptowardWolfCreek.Thenorthernportiontravelsthroughascenicforestedareaatdifferentsuccessionalstagesfromoldgrowthtoyoungforest.ThesouthernportionfollowstheSt.CroixRiverValley,hometoawidevarietyofwildlifeincludingdeer,ruffedgrouseandmanysongbirds.When

The Trade River Day Use Area,justeastoftheequestriancampground,providestrailmaps,water,restrooms,horsetielinesandtrailpassself-registrationonsite.Another parking areawithmapsisavailablealongthenorthernportionofthehorsetraillocatedat340thStreetand290thAvenue.

AWisconsinStateTrailPassisrequiredforriders16yearsandolder.TrailPassescanbeobtainedthrough self-registrationatthetrailheadorataWisconsinDepartmentofNaturalResourcesServiceCenter.

• Riverview Trail(blacksigns)is the most popular and difficult trail on the state forest. The 3-mile segment begins attheTradeRiverCampgroundandrunssouthalongaridgetopoverlookingtheTradeRiverValley.Thisvery

sandypathgoesupsteepembankmentsthatcanbequiteeroded.Ridersshouldgivehorsesplentyofroomwhengoingupordownthetrailandtaketheir

time.Theoverlookonthistrailfeaturesabreathtakingviewandisapopularplaceforphotosandlunch.

• Harris Loop(yellowsigns)isaquick2-milelooptraillocatedatthesouthwestcorneroftheBarrensLoop.Thistrailwindsthroughstandsofoak,jackpineandwhitepine.

at 1-888-947-2757 or www.reserveamerica.com. Reservationscanbemadeupto48hourspriortoarrivalandnomorethan11monthsinadvance.

• Only onewheeledcampingunitisallowedpersite.Thereisnolimitonthenumberoftents,providedtheyfitwithintheperimeterofthecampsite.

• All campers must obtain a camping permit. • Maximumcampingdurationis14 days within

any 21-day period. • A non-family group may not exceed 6 persons.

A“family”islimitedtoparent(s)anddependentchildrenandnotmorethantwoguests.

• Campingpermitsarevalidfrom3p.m.ofthefirstdayto 3 p.m. of the last day.Check-outtimeis3p.m.

• Electricalhookupsareavailableatsomesitesforanadditionalfee.Thefeeisthesamewhethertheelectricityisusedornot.

Campfires• Containfireswithinthemetalfireringprovided

ateachsite,andforthehealthofyourfellowcampers,pleasedon’t burn trash.

• Don’tleaveyourfireunattendedandbesuretoextinguishitcompletelybeforeleavingyourcampsite.

• FirewoodisavailableforsaleattheTradeRiverEquestrianCampground.Toprotectourforest,firewoodmustbepurchasedwithin 10 miles of thecampground.DATCP-certifiedfirewoodorgathereddeadanddownwoodfromtheStateForestisalsopermitted.Forthehealthoftheforest, do not cut live trees or brush.

• Charcoalandgasgrillsareallowed.Carefullydisposeofusedcharcoal.

Sanitary Facilities• Tomaintainsafedrinkingwater,pleasedo not

wash dishes at the pump.• Asanitarydumpstationislocatednearthe

registrationbuildingattheTradeRiverEquestrianCampground.

• Safedrinkingwaterisprovided.• Pleasekeepthecampgroundclean.Dispose all

horse manure and hay in the horse manure pits.

Pets/Horses• Petsmust be on a leashnolongerthan8feet

whileincampgroundsandotherdesignatedareas. Pleasecleanupafteryourpets.

• Portablepensmaybeusedbutmustbesetupinthetielinearea.

• Pleasesecurehorsestotielinesratherthantrees.

Motor Vehicles• AllvehiclesintheTradeRiverEquestrian

CampgroundmusthaveaWisconsinStateParksandForestadmissionstickerorpaytherequireddailyusefee.

• Nomorethantwo vehiclesmaybeparkedatthecampsite.Keepvehiclesongravelpads.

• Parkextravehiclesattheregistrationbuilding.

Noise• Atnotimemaythenoisefromyourcampsite

interferewiththeenjoymentofyourfellowcampers.Campersmayoperategeneratorsbetweenthehoursof7a.m.and8p.m.Permissiontooperategeneratorsmayberevokedifgeneratorsareexcessivelyloud.Pleaserespectyourfellowcampersandonlyusegeneratorswhennecessary.

Camping Privileges:FellowcampersandStateForeststaffappreciateyourcooperationand compliancewiththeseregulations.Violationmayresultincitationsand/orlossofcampingprivileges.
