How is this different from whatIm already doing?
High-quality preschool programs alreadyincorporate many key components of Early
Childhood SRBI. Implementing the entireEarly Childhood SRBI framework allowsprograms and/or communities to create acomplete system for providing supports tostudents.
When programs and/or communitieswork together, they can create a system
that meets the needs of all students byproviding:
1. A strong and effective corecurriculum.
2. A system for supporting thosechildren who need additional help indeveloping certain skills.
Special Education
Despite additional supports, a small numberof children still may not make adequateprogress in developing targeted skills. Tismay cause a family or teacher to suspect
that a child may have a disability, promptinga request for an evaluation to determinewhether a child may require special education.A referral for an evaluation to determine if achild requires special education is appropriateany time a teacher or family suspects that achild has a disability. Early Childhood SRBIshould not be used to delay or deny this type
of evaluation.
