Jan Amos Comenius(1592-1670) was the first teacher who introduced the concept of “international

education”. He was also called “Teacher of Nations” because of his struggles about universal education. The

basic aim of Comenius Programme is to increase the quality of education by cooperating European countries

and encourage language learning with the help of cultural interaction.

As Remzi Özer YİBO(Turkey) teachers, we prepared a project and the project found its partners from

Spain, Italy and Poland. In fact, this project took its last shape with the help of our partner schools. Then we

named it “ME AND YOU-DIFFERENT BUT UNITED”.

“Me and you” aims to give an opportunity to the pupils to discover, understand, know and respect

European culture more than ever.

We knocked the door and our project opened the doors of Europe and became a bridge between Turkey

and other European countries.

With the help of this project, our pupils will realize their identities and see the similarities and differences

between their country and other European countries. They are able to compare the traditions, natural beauties,

architectural arts, music, crafts, gastronomy, legends, and elements of civilization specific to every country.

English is hard to learn when it is not used in daily life or when it is not a necessity to communicate; so

our pupils know that English is the only language to share our opinions with our partner schools. The project

shows them the importance of developing English skills.

The experiences being get from this project will help our pupils improve both their education and social

life. While they are improving their foreign language competence, they are also getting aware of being honest,

good charecterized, self-confident, creative,responsible person!

The Comenius project is very funny

because plenty of teachers and pupils from

other countries have visited Marbella and we

have had a really great time with them,

especially in Ronda and in our school.

I liked the Comenius project a lot because

we have learned a lot of things from other

countries such as: Poland, Turkey and Italy,

Our pupils come from quite poor families because our region has a very high unemployment and one of

the lowest income per head in Poland. There is no industry. It is hard to find jobs. Families of our pupils

suffer from consequences of bad economic situation. A project like this is an opportunity to see foreign
