SPS Access Scope Replacement of the obsolete system For both
access control and access safety functions Primary zones From risk
assessment to installation & validation (+dismantling) 16
Access Points; > 200 doors Time scale From 2012 to LS2
Installation centered on the LS2 Risk assessment, specification
(sectorisation), contract, test lab, etc. before LS2 Budget 14.5
MCHF, planned until 2018 Support from other groups BE: Controls,
Operation, RF, Safety TE: Beam Transfer, Power Converters, Machine
Protection, Vacuum EN: Electricity (cabling/fiber; AUG), Handling,
Maintenance & Installation, Dumps, Ventilation GS: Access &
Alarm systems, Fire brigade, Civil Engineering, AIS IT:
Communication systems, Database FP: Procurement PHExperimental
areas Safety: Radio Protection, General safety Risk if not done
Reliability; Availability (spare parts) Nuclear Authorities 4EDMS

LHC Access Scope Readiness to perform the requested (and
approved) evolutions of the LHC Access System for both access
control and access safety functions Example: 16 evolutions in
progress for the LS1 Use cases PZ65 Access Point Better integration
with IMPACT & DMC dosimeters Time scale From 2015 to LS2 Budget
3.3 MCHF planned until 2018 Support from other groups Will depend
on the requests EN/EL and EN/HE often heavily involved Risk if not
done Safety Reliability; Availability 5EDMS 1311991 Accelerator

LHC Public Address Scope The PS project and the feedback from
the people in the field show the LHC Public Address could be a plus
To be compared with TETRA functions Time scale LS2 Budget Raw
estimation 4MCHF; not approved Support from other groups EN/EL Risk
if not done Usability Safety (public address is not a safety
system) Nota: same question about the SPS 6EDMS 1311991 Accelerator

Slide 7
Experimental Areas Access Scope Several recent examples show
the traditional border between Primary zones and Secondary zones is
no longer sufficient in order to define the Access needs GIF++ High
intensity Ion/Proton extraction to north area Access Control to
EHN1 Access to galleries under EHN1 The Experimental Areas are more
and more complex with a large set of risks (higher intensity
radiation from beam, sources, laser, etc.) We would like to set up
a real test platform which would be able to validate the future
zones such as the ones in the North Area Time scale In principle,
not linked to LS2; from 2014 to 2018 Budget Raw estimation 1.5MCHF;
not approved Support from other groups limited Risk if not done

Slide 9
Linear smoke detectors replacement Scope Linear smoke detection
should be replaced by air sampling detection To ease the
maintenance To improve the early detection In large Halls, SD, SDX.
Time scale 2015-2017 Budget 350-400 kCHF; not approved Support from
other groups EN/MEF Risk if not done Maintenance; Availability;

SPS BIW & Evacuation Scope The SPS access project implies
major works on the SPS Beam Imminent Warning & Evacuation
system This is the right time to replace the current obsolete
system Time scale 2016 (centrals); LS2 (buttons & sirens); LS2
(cabling) Budget 1MCHF to 1.3MCHF; not approved Support from other
groups EN/EL Risk if not done Maintenance; Availability;

Slide 11
SPS Fire Detection PVC tubes Scope Large part of the SPS Fire
detection is made with air sampling network built with PVC tubes
(20km) These aging tubes have to be replaced, especially because of
the radiations Time scale Mainly during the LS2 Emergency
interventions could be necessary before Budget 600 kCHF; not
approved Support from other groups EN/MEF Risk if not done
Availability; Reliability Impact on other equipment (remember TDC2
issue) Nota: a smaller PS network has to be replaced EDMS 131199111

Slide 12
LHC Alarm Transmission Scope The current alarm transmission
between underground equipment (centrals) and surface (CSAM) is not
made with fire- resistant cables We believe it could be appropriate
in order to get a longer data transmission in case of major
incident Time scale LS2 Budget 1 MCHF; not approved Support from
other groups EN/EL Risk if not done Safety EDMS 131199112
