maintenancearecalledlifeprocess.

Basiclifeprocessesare:Nutrition,Respiration,Transportation,Excretionetc.

LifeProcessesrequireenergywhichisprovidedbynutrition.

ModesofNutrition

1. Autotrophic:-KindofnutritioninwhichorganismscansynthesizetheirownfoodEg.

GreenPlants

2. Heterotrophic:-Kindofnutritionofwhichorganismsdonotpossesstheabilityto

synthesizetheirownfood.Theydependonautotrophsfortheirfoodsupplydirectlyor

indirectly.Eg.Animals,Fungi

AutotrophicNutrition

Autotrophs:Theorganismswhichcanmaketheirownfoodarecalledautotrophs

(greenplants).

Photosynthesis:Theprocessbywhichgreenplantsmaketheirownfoodwiththe

helpofCO andH Ointhepresenceofchlorophyllandsunlightisalsocalled

photosynthesis.
