THANK YOU TO THE ST. THOMAS MORE PARISH AND SCHOOL COMMUNITIES
There are not enough words to express my family’s gratitude for the tremendous outpouring of love and support we received after my husband, Robert Patterson, died. I know it was only through the power of your prayers for us we were able to make it through that first week. Although the words “Thank you” are simple, please accept them from Bridget, Sean and myself. There is a line from a song for everything and for me it is from the musical The King and I,
All of my memories are happy tonight I've had a love of my own.
Peace be with you all, Katie Patterson

IS THIS YOU. . .OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW?
• I attend Mass with my Catholic spouse, but I’m not sure what the Church really believes • I’m curious about the Catholic faith. • I was baptized Catholic as a child, but I never received the Sacrament of Communion or Confirmation. If you're curious about the faith or you've ever thought about becoming a Catholic, our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) program is looking for you. Our Tuesday night sessions, beginning September 2, focus on Church teachings and clear up common misconceptions. You are not committing to anything by attending, but many participants do decide to join the Church and celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist at Easter. You are welcome to join us with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm, accepting setting. Isn't it worth a phone call or e-mail to find out more? Please contact Marie Trujillo at 404.378.4588 x 121 or [email protected] for more information.
Road to Confirmation materials are due Sept 2, 2014. This is a MANDATORY program for 6th- 9th
grade for those parishioners wishing to Confirm at STM in their 10th grade year.

STM WOMEN'S EVENING OF REFLECTION IS STARTING A NEW PROGRAM! A Powerful Study on the Blessed Mother Begins on Thursday, August 14th,
7:30 p.m. in the St. Julie Room
Filmed on location in the Holy Land, Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother will place you in the midst of the powerful drama of Mary’s earthly life, taking you through her joys and her sorrows. You will learn how she works in our lives today, drawing us ever closer to her divine Son. She will become a part of your daily life and help you to become more like Christ. All women of the parish are welcome to join us for Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother beginning Thursday, August 14th and continuing every 2nd and 4th Thursday. We start in the Chapel for silent adoration at 7 p.m., and then to the St. Julie Room at 7:30 for the program. For more information, contact Ann at [email protected]
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN GREGORIAN CHANT? The STM men’s schola is looking for new members. Our schola chants usually on the first Sunday of the month at the 8 a.m. Mass and also on special occasions throughout the year. We rehearse on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:30 pm. If you are a woman interested in chant, we are also looking to start a women’s chant group. If you are interested in chant, please call or email Reiner Gerdes at 404-427-0618; [email protected].
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! Looking for a fun and special ministry? Children's Liturgy of the Word is growing by leaps and bounds! We are thrilled that so many children are participating this year. As our numbers grow, we need a few more "shepherds" to assist with gathering and overseeing the children. Volunteer teams share the time commitment by serving on 3 week rotations. Interested?? Please contact Jenny Bowers - Hutchinson at [email protected]
WHY SHOULD I MAKE A CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH WEEKEND?
A CRHP brings together priest and people in a very casual but effective Christian atmosphere of sharing and dialogue. Stimulates on-going study, prayer and service. Heals wounds, exposes you to the effectiveness of shared ministry. Most importantly it invites Jesus to be at the center of your life and a Spirit-filled community. What do you have to lose? Take a few hours out of your busy schedule to refresh your heart and soul. The next Women’s CRHP is Sept 13 & 14.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT— EIGHTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
“Why spend your money for what is not bread; your wages for what fails to satisfy?” - Isaiah 55:2
Of all the ways we are asked to be generous, giving our money can be the most challenging. God understand this. Remember though that we are called to be generous with all our gifts, including our money. We are called to give from our “first fruits” and not from what is “leftover”.
STEWARDSHIP VISION AT STM
Inspired by the uniqueness of our faith com-munity and our response to God’s call, the stewardship committee strives to fulfill the Christian mission by sharing our time, talent and treasure. Our vision is to involve and encourage all members of the parish to volunteer and support our varied ministries and be true disciples of Jesus Christ. For more information about stewardship call Ann Dugan at 404-378-4588
