LENEXA, Kansas – October 23, 2000 – Sprint PCS (NYSE: PCS), Samsung Telecommunications
America Inc. (Samsung), QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) and 3Com Corporation
(Nasdaq: COMS) today announced the completion of the first successful voice and data field trial
using standards-based third-generation (3G) Code Division Multiple Access (cdma2000 1x)
technology. The full-scale trial, the first in North America, took place throughout July and August on

to new wireless consumer and business services.
