Our Teachers Jesus, when you lived on earth, people called you ‘Teacher’. Our teachers are like you when they teach us about God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - about
Mary, about heaven, about angels, about saints, about being good, about sin, about suffering, about death, about praying, about adding up, about spelling, about writing, about computers, about sport and lots and lots of other things.
Help our teachers as they work hard to teach us, help them when they are tired or worried, give them lots of fun in being teachers. Please bless our teachers
and their families.
‘So the last will be first, and the first will be last’ Matthew 20:1-16 Dear Parents, Although we are fast approaching the end of Term 3 we are still very fo-cused on learning and there have been so many wonderful opportunities for the children to share their learning across the school. The Year 5 students are a great example of this when they held their ‘Night of the Notables’ and invited students from all year levels as well as their parents to come and learn about some of the key people who helped to shape our nation. I spoke to many of the children and they demonstrated a deep knowledge and understanding of the person they had researched. The St. Mary MacKillop Library was buzzing as each class came to dis-cover all about these important Australian historical figures who contributed so much to how we live today. Below I have some for you to see.
THANK YOU TO ALL THE YEAR 5 STUDENTS FOR SHARING
THEIR LEARNING WITH US ALL!

Insight SRC Survey
Thank you to all the parents who took the time to fill in the Insight SRC Surveys. This
year we have had a record response. We sent out 100 and 83 were filled out. The da-
ta from these surveys will inform school planning for 2017. It is an important way for
you to have a voice in school matters.
School Closure Day
As you are aware on the first day of Term 4, Monday 3 of October we are having a Professional Learning Day
for staff and the students will not be required to be at school. The students will begin on Tuesday 4 October.
We did offer whole day care at school via the YMCA for the 3 of October but we did not get enough re-
sponses to be able to offer this service therefore it will not be available on Monday 3 of October.
The staff will be involved in professional learning which is focused on strengthening our understanding of
how to personalise learning using the inquiry approach. We will be working with Kath Murdoch who will sup-
port us to develop a whole school approach to personalising learning using an inquiry approach.
Reminders

LEARNING ASSETS SUPPORTING ALL CHILDREN TO BECOME
BETTER LEARNERS
As you know we have been working collaboratively with Kath Murdoch an internationally recognised expert
on Inquiry Learning. Throughout the year the children in all classes have been introduced to the Learning As-
sets which are illustrated below. The Learning Assets outline the most important qualities and skills that
good learners need in order to enhance their learning. The teachers across the school have been introducing
the ‘Learning Assets’ to the students at Our Lady’s School.
A variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables are always offered to children for afternoon snack! A variety of arts, crafts, board games, construction, recreational activities, sensory and imaginary play opportunities are availa-ble every day for children to choose. Homework & Home Readers Time – Our YMCA staff are there to encourage home readers and homework and most days we set aside a time to encourage this! If you or someone else is picking up your child (children) early from school and they are not attending the after school care, please let OSHC Team know. Bookings and Cancellations: It is important to book your child’s place so we can plan and expect their arrival at Before and After School Care. To ensure the safety of your child please notify us of any absences or additional days of care via the My Family Lounge Portal http://www.childrensservices.ymca.org.au/enrol/my-family-lounge-sign-in.html
