Our Teachers Jesus, when you lived on earth, people called you ‘Teacher’. Our teachers are like you when they teach us about God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - about

Mary, about heaven, about angels, about saints, about being good, about sin, about suffering, about death, about praying, about adding up, about spelling, about writing, about computers, about sport and lots and lots of other things.

Help our teachers as they work hard to teach us, help them when they are tired or worried, give them lots of fun in being teachers. Please bless our teachers

and their families.

‘So the last will be first, and the first will be last’ Matthew 20:1-16 Dear Parents, Although we are fast approaching the end of Term 3 we are still very fo-cused on learning and there have been so many wonderful opportunities for the children to share their learning across the school. The Year 5 students are a great example of this when they held their ‘Night of the Notables’ and invited students from all year levels as well as their parents to come and learn about some of the key people who helped to shape our nation. I spoke to many of the children and they demonstrated a deep knowledge and understanding of the person they had researched. Insight SRC Survey

Thank you to all the parents who took the time to fill in the Insight SRC Surveys. This

year we have had a record response. We sent out 100 and 83 were filled out. The da-

ta from these surveys will inform school planning for 2017. It is an important way for

you to have a voice in school matters.

School Closure Day

As you are aware on the first day of Term 4, Monday 3 of October we are having a Professional Learning Day

for staff and the students will not be required to be at school. The students will begin on Tuesday 4 October.

We did offer whole day care at school via the YMCA for the 3 of October but we did not get enough re-

sponses to be able to offer this service therefore it will not be available on Monday 3 of October.

The staff will be involved in professional learning which is focused on strengthening our understanding of

how to personalise learning using the inquiry approach. We will be working with Kath Murdoch who will sup-

port us to develop a whole school approach to personalising learning using an inquiry approach.

Reminders

Code of Conduct

Please remember to fill in the Code of Conduct and return it to the school. It is important that you do so that

you can attend school events. All people who enter the school will need to sign the code of conduct this is

required by law and is a part of the new Child Safety Standards that all schools are required to comply by.

School Safety

We ask you not to come to pick up your child/children during snack (11.00-11.30am) or lunch (1.15-2.15pm).

Thanking you for your cooperation.

lucky dip for Our Lady’s Show Day tomorrow.

PLEASE NOTE:

Tomorrow is Our Lady’s Show Day and the children can

come dressed out of uniform for a gold coin donation which

will be donated to the Catholic Alliance for Refugees and

Asylum Seekers (CAPSA).

School finishes at 3.15pm tomorrow (there is no Assembly).

We wish everyone safe, relaxing and fun filled holidays!

LEARNING ASSETS SUPPORTING ALL CHILDREN TO BECOME

BETTER LEARNERS

As you know we have been working collaboratively with Kath Murdoch an internationally recognised expert

on Inquiry Learning. Throughout the year the children in all classes have been introduced to the Learning As-

sets which are illustrated below. The Learning Assets outline the most important qualities and skills that

good learners need in order to enhance their learning. The teachers across the school have been introducing

the ‘Learning Assets’ to the students at Our Lady’s School.
