Target Stations
•Target station design utilises the experience we built over the 10 years of ISAC-I operation.
•Target module shielding plug
•Target Station #1
•The first target station to be operational in July 2013 • 25 kW of electron beam and 100 kW of proton beam.
•Target Station #2
•Target station #2 to be operational in July 2017 •The design will accommodate 500 kW of electron beam. • In the 2010-2015 5YP it will be used for the 500 kW
converter development test bed.
Services
•To service the beam lines and the target station we are planning to have a remote handling manipulator that will be attached to the overhead crane. •The remote handling manipulator need a space of 1.5 m on
each side of the beam line centre. •The manipulator will service the following items:
• Heavy-Ions Front-end Optics• Heavy-Ions Front-end Diagnostics• Front end vacuum• Object Slit• Image Slit• Laser Optics, window and prism• Proton Entrance diagnostics• Proton Beam dump
•Hot Cells•One for target exchange, •One for maintenance.•Ante room common to both hot-cell for service.•Conditioning Stations•To prepare the target for on-line operation we will have
conditioning stations.• Storage vault for 24 targets• Shielded room to prepare spent target shipping.
