P5 Assessment 2018
English, Mathematics, Science & Mother Tongue
We view P5 and P6 as a seamless 2 year journey for students to deepen their
learning. Hence there is no formal assessment in the first 10 weeks of this journey so
that students have time and space to cultivate interest and skills in the subjects at the
higher level. In its place will be topical practices, quizzes that will help both teachers
and students assess the learning.

Everyday Responsibilities
• Research shows that children who help out with home duties or chores
actually do better in school and they are more empathetic and caring.
• In fact, children who participate in everyday responsibilities perceive
themselves more positively, have a stronger sense of self-worth and are less
stressed.
• These children also feel good that they are contributing; they feel wanted,
needed and bonded to the family. They see that they have an important role
to play in the family and the daily responsibilities help to make caring and
helpfulness second nature to them.
To care is to discipline
• Educate, Correct, Rebuke, Encourage• Rules; Relationships; Routines
• Self-discipline

What kind of boy is the ACS boy?
“The ACS boy was an energetic, spry and unconventional creature. A sense of humour and mischief is not far from his fertile mind … Perhaps a certain kind of swagger and over self-confidence … and creativity … The light-heartedness, the sense of fun and humour. Mix this with a serious determination to excel in the classroom and in the sportsfield. Mix this further with a sense of duty and a sense of what is morally right and Godly. You have a very powerful mixture.”
