1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 The purpose of this AIP Supplement is to:
1.1.1 Inform operators of the schedule of works, closure of Runways and Taxiways and the extent of facilities affected due to major runway/taxiway maintenance work on the aircraft movement areas at Bangalore International Airport.
1.1.2 The information detailed in this AIP Supplement is for the period 08 March 2012 to 04 May 2012.
1.1.3 Work is planned in various Phases to ensure that the Runway is made available for operations for the maximum available time, though with revised Declared Distances. (Refer Annexure - A for details)
1.1.4 The symbolic map of existing RWY with various distances is shown in Annexure - E for reference.
1.1.5 For all restricted operations, RESA of 300x90 M is provided.
1.1.6 Isolation Parking Bay (IPB) will be available during all the phases of maintenance work.
1.1.7 During the maintenance work, the capacity of runway will be reduced. Operators are advised to coordinate with ‘Slot Coordination’ BIAL.

2. VARIOUS PHASES OF RUNWAY/ TAXIWAY MAINTENANCE WORK: 2.1 PREPARATORY PHASE
Period: 08 March 2012 to 10 March 2012 Time: 0500 UTC to 1200 UTC
Portion of TWY A between D and A1 not available due to work in progress (WIP).
i. RUNWAY 27:
(a) Departure: All departure shall be from TWY B intersection only. Aircraft requiring full length for departure shall communicate the requirement to ATC before taxiing out.
(b) Arrival: No restrictions for arrivals.
ii. RUNWAY 09:
(a) Departure: No restriction for departures.
(b) Arrival: Arriving aircraft to vacate RWY 09 via TWY E or TWY B only. In case any aircraft crosses abeam TWY B, it shall make 180 deg turn only at the end of the RWY for backtracking and vacate via TWY B.
2.2 PHASE-I
Period: 11 March 2012 to 03 April 2012 Time: 0500 UTC to 1200 UTC Runway not available for operations due to WIP. (Refer Annexure - B)
2.3 PHASE-II
Date: 04 April 2012 to 14 April 2012 Time: 0430 UTC to 1230 UTC
i. Portion of runway from beginning of RWY 27 to TWY B not available due to WIP on RWY. (Refer Annexure – C)
ii. Threshold RWY 27 displaced by 1300m.
iii. RWY 27 with displaced threshold is re-designated as 27D (during phase-II period) on R/T.
iv. Operation of aircraft up to Code-C type permitted during this period.
v. Temporary displaced threshold marking/markers available.
vi. Temporary ground calibrated 3 deg PAPI available, MEHT 16.25m.
vii. During this period portion of TWY A between TWY A1 and TWY D not available due to vehicular movement.
viii. The coordinates of displaced threshold for RWY 27:131225.03N 0774239.50E and elevation 897.33M (2944FT).

ix. Departures from RWY 27: From TWY B intersection.
x. Departures from RWY 09: From TWY A6 only.
xi. Aircraft landing on runway 27 shall vacate runway via taxiway A6 only and after vacating shall hold at intermediate holding position before taxiway K/G intersection. Aircraft shall obtain positive clearance from SMC to cross this intersection.
xii. Revised declared distances in phase II:

xiv. In case of malfunctioning of LLZ, VFR operation will be permitted subject to visibility.
2.4 Date: 15 April 2012

i. Work in progress for relocating PAPI. ii. Full length of RWY available with Non Precision Approaches. iii. ILS RWY 09/27 not available due to work in OFZ. iv. Pilots to exercise caution for men and material close to RWY shoulders.
2.5 PHASE-III
Date: 16 April 2012 to 01 May 2012 Time: 0430 UTC to 1230 UTC
i. Portion of runway from beginning of RWY 09 to TWY F not available due to WIP on RWY. (Refer Annexure - D)
ii. Threshold RWY 09 displaced by 1600m.
iii. Runway 09 with displaced threshold re-designated as 09D (during PHASE-III period) on R/T.
iv. Operation of aircraft up to Code-C type permitted during this period.
v. Temporary displaced threshold marking/markers available.
vi. Temporary fixed distance markers provided.
vii. Temporary ground calibrated 3 deg PAPI available MEHT 16.25m.

viii. Portion of TWY A between TWY A6 and TWY G not available due to vehicular movement.
ix. The coordinates of displaced threshold for RWY 09:131225.35N 0774202.99E and elevation 906.96M (2976 FT).
x. Departures from RWY 09: From TWY F intersection.
xi. Departure from RWY 27: From TWY A1 only.

2.6 FINAL PHASE (WORK ON TWY)
Date: 02 May 2012 to 04 May 2012 Time: 0500 UTC to 1200 UTC
i. Full length of runway with CAT-I Precision Approaches available.
ii. Portion of taxiway A between TWY F and TWY H not available due to WIP.
iii. Runway 09: Arrivals to vacate via TWY A1 only, unless otherwise instructed by ATC. Departures shall enter runway via TWY E or TWY B, as instructed by ATC and backtrack RWY 09. They shall vacate runway via TWY G and after making right turn on TWY A, continue to TWY A6 for full length. Aircraft shall make 180 deg turn on RWY for TWY G or F intersection departure. ATC shall be advised for intersection departure before taxiing out.
iv. Runway 27: Arrivals to vacate by TWY G only and make Right turn on TWY A to proceed to TWY A6. Aircraft shall hold at holding point on A6 for further instruction. Departure shall be permitted from TWY A1 only. In case, any aircraft is requesting for departure from TWY B intersection, ATC shall be advised before taxiing out.
