Cate Garwood, Principal
It appears that winter is
upon us in Week 5. The
SRC met at the beginning
of the week and look
forward to sharing a
recycling initiative with
the college community
soon.
My thanks to the Yr 5/6
teachers who held an
information session for
the Year 5/6 Camp on
Tuesday evening. Also the
Middle School team who
invited families coming
into Year 7 for 2017 to an
information evening on
Tuesday. It was great to
hear many questions from
families continuing on into
MS at ACC.
Years 3,5,7 and 9 students
have worked very well
during NAPLAN testing this
week. Year 2 is leading the
T-5 assembly tomorrow,
Friday 13th of May, all are
welcome.
With the arrival of winter
we received new tracksuit
stock in the uniform shop,
this week. Thank you to
families who have named
winter clothing for students.
This makes it easy to locate
the owner when they
remove their outer layers
during the day.
This weekend some of the
staff and council members
will attend NT Christian
Schools strategic summit in
Darwin.
Next week we have several
interesting events at the
college. Thursday 19th of
News from the Principal—Week 5
From God’s Word
Our devotion focus in
Week 5 is ’Reflecting
Creativity’ Psalm 139:13-
14 says “ For you created
my inmost being; you knit
me together in my
mother’s womb. I praise
you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made;
your works are wonder-
ful, I know full well.”
God made us uniquely,
wonderfully and full of
His creativity. As God’s
image bearers we have
been given a measure of
His creativity in our
unique gifts and talents.
When we use this
creativity we have been
given we also bring praise
to God and contribute to
the community we are
part of at Araluen
Christian College.
Have an
enjoyable
week.

Jump Rope for Heart Araluen Christian College students will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on the 19th May. This is the Thursday of week six and staff
and students will enjoy a morning of skipping, exercise and activities.
This event is a fun, healthy, and active fundraiser for the Heart Foundation. To participate, the students are asked to contribute a gold coin
donation on the day which goes towards our fundraising total.
Students will also be encouraged to individually fundraise for the Heart Foundation and your child will have received a form at school this
week. The prizes that can be won by children going the extra effort to fundraise are displayed in the leaflet. There are some great prizes
to ‘win’.
The preferred and easiest way to register individual student is via the online link. It is an easy to use system and can be found at http://
jumprope.everydayhero.do/jumprope2016/tool/?group=Araluen-Christian-School-ALICE-SPRINGS-NT-116119 This form of fundraising
will help the office staff greatly. Donors are also able to donate directly to a registered child’s account and also access tax deductible re-
ceipts online.
We will be practicing our skipping over the next few weeks at school! If there are any questions, feel free to seek out Nick Harder who is
coordinating this year’s Jump Rope for Heart.
Happy Skipping!
