Zakos Software proudly announces that ZakosAstmOilCalc® is now available through its office. What is the ZakosAstmOilCalc®? It is an MS VB6 Windows based program, developed after the experience gained on board tankers, Lpg carriers, bulk carriers. It has been designed for both fleet and individual use, suitable for liquid, gas, bulk cargo calculations ( Crude, Products, Lpg Lng, and Chemicals ). Where the time is precious, ZakosAstmOilCalc comes to assist both Chief Mates on tankers, Marine Superintendents or Cargo Surveyors to complete the cargo calculation swiftly and accurately. ZakosAstmOilCalc® consists of the following Program Modules : ZAKOS ASTM OIL CALCULATION : ZakosAstmOilCalc is a user-friendly cargo oilcalculation program for Tanker ships, Marine Surveyors and Ships΄ Officers. As well as Oil cargo calculation a comprehensive set of ASTM-IP tables are included together with utilities to complement the tables and refine the calculation. ZakosAstmOilCalc is controlled by easy to use Menus and Dialogs for easy operation. ZakosAstmOilCalc offers the following functions: ZakosAstmOilCalc; Oil cargo survey calculation for Crude, Product or Lube oils using a variety of different units of input and output. The following pages will display part of the program’s screens :

2 API – ASTM – IP INTRACONVERSION TABLES SCREEN : When the button ( ASTM Tables ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : For Crude Oil. given : API @ 60F° = 30.25 Temp = 78.3 F° Volume = 25,500 Bbls F.W. = 20 Bbls

Select ASTM table by clicking with the mouse Type API 60F = 30.25 Type Temp F = 78.3 Type Volume = 25,500 Type FW = 20 Click button [ Calc Volume ] Read Calculated Results from the right side Table as shown above.

3 EXAMPLE 2 : For Bunker F.O. given : Density @ 20C° = 0.9737 Temp = 45.0 C° Volume = 416.173 m3 As we have to convert Density @ 20C° to Density @ 15C° we proceed as folows : Step 1 :

4 Step 2 : As we have to calculate Volume for Density @ 15C° we proceed as folows :

5 THERMAL EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS TABLES SCREEN : When the button ( Thermal Expansion Coefficient Tables ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : For Crude/Product Oil. given : Coefficient = 0.0004181 Temp = 105.03 F° Volume = 145,877 Bbls F.W. = 12 Bbls

Select ASTM Table 6C by clicking with the mouse Type [ Coefficient ] = 0.0004181 Type Temp F = 105.03 Type Volume = 145,877 Type FW = 12 Click button [ Calc Volume ] Read Calculated Results from the right side Table as shown above.

6 NEGATIVE API at 60°F SCREEN : When the button ( Negative API at 60°F ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : For Crude/Product Oil. given : API @ 60F° = -4.50 Temp = 125.0 F° Volume = 148,755 Bbls F.W. = 15 Bbls

Type API 60F = -4.50 ( use negative sign ) Type Temp F = 125.0 Type Volume = 148,755 Type FW = 15 Click button [ Calc Volume ] Read Calculated Results from the right side Table as shown above.





7 PETROLEUM TABLES SCREEN : When the button ( Petroleum Tables ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : Density @ 20C° = 0.9034 Temp = 54.46 C° As we have to convert Density @ 20C° to Density at Actual Temperature we proceed as folows : Step 1 :

Select ASTM Table 59B by clicking with the mouse Type Density = 0.9034 Type Temp = 54.46 Click button [ Calc Factors ] Read Density @ 54.46C° = 926.7 ( 0.9267 ) from the as shown above.

8 PETROLEUM TABLES SCREEN : When the button ( Petroleum Tables ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : For Product Oil. given : Density @ 20C° = 0.9035 Temp = 30.52 C° Volume = 24758.50 m3 FW = 1.20 m3 Select ASTM Table 60B by clicking with the mouse

Type Density = 0.9035 ( use Dens 20°C ) Type Temp C = 30.52 Type Volume = 24,758.50 Type FW = 1.20 Click button [ Calc Volume ] Read Calculated Results from the right side Table as shown above.





9 GOST CORRECTION FACTORS SCREEN : When the button ( GOST Correction Factors ) clicked the following screen will appear

EXAMPLE 1 : For Product Oil. given : Density @ 20C° = 0.9347 Temp = 62.20 C° Volume = 7870.30 m3 FW = 0 m3

Type Density = 0.9347 ( use Dens 20°C ) Type Temp C = 62.20 Type Volume = 7,870.30 Type FW = 0 Click button [ Calc Volume ] Read Calculated Results from the right side Table as shown above.

10 CALCULATOR :

Clicking at this icon the following Window Screen will appear:

Calculator Procedure : Click each button number you wish e.g. 12029.182 m3 Click button numbers 1, 2, 0, 2, 9, ., 1, 8, 2 then click the button m3/Bbls and the result will be displayed. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish.

11 AVERAGE GRAV / TEMP :


Procedure : Select Average Mode one of the 3 selection of the Select Average clicking the appropriate button e.g. in this example we selected API 60F. Start typying the columns ( Volume & Gravity API 60F ) and the API Average will be displayed. Moving the cursor at the cell column Input with a Very Light Blue color and start typying the value(s). Then, move the cursor to another cell in order the Average result will be displayed as shown below.

The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish (1 to 40 ).

12 UNIT CONVERSION :


Unit Conversion Procedure : Select Conversion Mode one of the 6 selection of the Select Conversions clicking the appropriate button e.g. in this example we selected Length. Start typying the Unit value in the column METERS Input . Moving the cursor at that cell column METERS Input with a Very Light Blue color and start typying the Unit value. Then, move the cursor to another cell in order the Results will be displayed. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish.

13 VOLUME INTERPOLATION :


Calculation Units Selection :

Select Unit by clicking Select Volume Decimals ( 0 – 3 ) by clicking M.cms & Ft.inch : Cells will be formated with 3 Decimals Cms & Inch : Cells will be formated with 1 Decimals Volume Interpolation Procedure : Select Mode one of the 5 selection of the Interpolation Mode clicking the appropriate button e.g. in this example we selected Ullage then select Units for Ullage & Draft and Volume decimals Moving the cursor at that cell column Input with a Very Light Blue color and start typying the values. The procedure described above will be carried out so many times as you wish. 1.
