MixingHomogenous mixing meansuniformity of the entirecontents of a vessel. Theystral  Jetstream mixer worksaccording to the principle ofvertical mixing withoutinduction of air. The Jetstreammixer offers the necessaryflow for suspending heavysediments, but without causinga vortex.

Effective macro and micro mixing are

essential to achieve a consistent product

quality in a variety of applications.

The ystral  Jetstream principle meets all

the requirements to achieve a complete

and homogenous mixture in a vessel as

well as homogeneity and a stable result.

Economy and an optimal mixing

performance, as well as simple handling

are easily achieved.

Function:A fast rotating rotor creates avertical stream in a stator, thatis directed towards the bottomof a tank or a vessel. At thevessel bottom, the stream isdiverted and forms a streamupwards on the wall of thevessel.

Process:The mixing of the mediumis carried out without anyincorporation of air by a vortexor along the mixing shaft. Theentire contents of the vessel,

even with materials of highviscosity, is fully influenced.A complete turnover of all pro-duct components is achievedthroughout all levels in thevessel. The medium does notrotate in the vessel as happenswith conventional stirrers, andbaffles are not required. Heavysediments are suspended wit-

Function:Together with the DISPERMIXstator, a high-speed rotorcreates two liquid streams indifferent directions. A partialvertical stream is directed tothe bottom of the vessel ortank where it is diverted andreflected and causes strongturbulence in the entire vesselor tank. The second partial

stream is redirected horizon-tally and forced to passthrough the dispersing zoneof the DISPERMIX.

The ystral  DISPERMIX is used when

simple mixing is not sufficient but

dispersing with a high-shere rotor-

stator-system is too intensive. The

DISPERMIX causes intensive mixing

in both the micro and macro range

of the product and simultaneously

disperses the product completely in

one operation. An additional second

step with a high shear machine is no

longer required. The DISPERMIX offers

Technology:The rotor-stator system maybe equipped with up to threedispersing stages and up to sixdispersing rings for each stage.The size of the slots is deter-mined by the process and mayvary from stage to stage or foreach shear ring.

If necessary, the dispersingchamber may be equipped witha cooling or heating mantle.Depending on the application,different types of sealing maybe installed: – Single action seals cooled

In a batch operation the pro-duct is dispersed in the vesselor circulated through theexternal machine until therequired particle size reductionis achieved. When pumping theproduct through an externalinline machine, an additionaldispersing process is applied.

without polluting the environ-ment by the carbon particlesand with the function as amixer the Activated Carbonmay be kept in suspension.

Technology:The machine is operated intwo speed ranges: high speedfor the induction and lowspeed for mixing and suspen-ding after powder induction.A separate cleaning connectionallows the inner parts of themachine to be cleaned. Motorand mixing shaft use separatebearings. Seal and bearingsare arranged outside of the

submersed parts. All rotatingparts are protected againstaccidental contact.

Principles:Powder is inducted throughan induction hose and broughtinto the liquid below thesurface. The powder is finelydistributed and immediatelywetted and dispersed. Therequired vacuum to inductthe powder is created in themixing head of the machineitself according to the Venturiprinciple. The fine distributionof the powder when it comesin contact with the liquidresults in a spontaneous andcomplete wetting of all powderparticles.

Process:The treatment of e.g. Aerosil,Cab-O-Sil or similar is carriedout without any developmentof dust with very short wettingand suspending times. No dustconcentrations dangerous tohealth come up. No dust comesout from the surface of theliquid. The treatment ofActivated Carbon is carried out

a completely agglomerate-free result

– all processing steps in one machine –

the ystral  “Conti-TDS”. By combining

all the processing steps into one

machine, enormous rationalisation

potential is offered. Production time

is minimised, partial processing steps

are completely avoided, production

cost is reduced to a minimum. The

basic idea of the Conti-TDS technology

is that not only the powder is wetted,

but also dispersed into a liquid under

Conti-TDSPowder inducting, wetting and dispersing

Function:The Conti-TDS system is basedon the principle of an inlinedispersing machine. A rotor-stator system transports anddisperses liquid with high shearenergy. The liquid that flowsthrough the dispersing chamberbuilds up a high inductionvacuum. This vacuum inductspowder without dust or

wastage, from any possiblecontainer directly into theliquid. Induction may be donedirectly from a paper sack,powder hopper, container,barrel, Big-Bag or silo. Afterpowder induction, the machinemay be used as an inlinedispersing machine to circulateand further disperse theproduct.

Principles:The dispersing of the liquidcauses an enormous enlarge-ment of the liquid surface thatis used for the wetting process.The vacuum causes an expan-

sion of the air content in thepowder to a multiple of theoriginal. The distance in-bet-ween the powder particles areenlarged proportionally whichfacilitates penetration andincreases the wetting capabilityof the liquid. Even difficult towet powders, spontaneouslyswelling or sticky powdersmay be treated without anyproblem.

Process:Typical installation is operationin recirculation, attached toa vessel. The machine may beattached to several vessels ormay be placed on casters andinstalled to vessels in differentworking areas. It is easy tointegrate the machine intoexisting processing systems.A continuous process may be
