10 January 2012 Dear Parent/Carer Year 9 Options Evening – Thursday 15 March 2012 I would like to invite you to attend a short presentation on the evening of Thursday 15 March about the options process for students in the current Year 9. This date has changed from the date originally published in the school calendar (22nd Feb). Changes to attainment tables and subject content are being introduced by the government from September 2012 and full details of these changes are only just being announced. The change to the published date will allow us to make sure all the latest information is included, and will allow you/us to provide more informed guidance for your son/daughter. The evening will be an opportunity for you to hear first-hand how the option process works and provide you with guidance on how to help and advise your child in making these difficult and important choices. During the evening there will be a formal presentation in the school hall and an opportunity to talk to key staff. Our school hall has limited seating, therefore we are holding two presentation sessions and we ask that you attend at the time given for the tutor group of your child. 9ARA, 9DMU, 9JPU, 9JSA and 9KLI parents and carers are invited to attend the presentation starting at 7.00pm. 9KRO, 9KTA, 9NCH and 9RNI parents and carers are invited to attend the presentation starting at 7.45pm. From 7.00pm key school colleagues will be available for informal discussions. Also present will be a representative from Connexions to provide more information on opportunities for courses offered by other providers within Kirklees and to provide guidance on Career pathways, and options choices.
