Founded in 1992 by our managing director, Ir. Lee Sieng Kai, Spectest specializes in field instrumentation and moni-toring works which has now become a necessity for safe engineering practice and in compliance to local authority requirements, and are now being used extensively in major construction projects, deep excavation works, maintenance of major highways, research and development projects, hillside development projects etc.

Geotechnical InstrumentationOver the years, the company has completed more than 170 high quality geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring projects for both public and private sectors, from among major deep excavation monitoring works for Petronas Twin Towers (1993), Berjaya Times Square (2003), hillside devel-opment monitoring for Theme Park Hotel, Genting High-land (1993), Pumping Station Diaphragm Wall and Cold Water Intake Structure monitoring for Manjung Power Station (2000), deep excavation, structural and environmen-tal effect of construction monitoring for Lot 171 Develop-ment, KLCC (2007, Lot 348 KL Sentral (2009) ) to the latest web-based e-monitoring for real time web visualization services at Platinum Park Phase 3 (2009). The company has since emerged as the leading geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring specialists for planning, supervision and conducting field geotechnical instrumentation, data-logging, real time automatic monitoring, review and reporting works for geotechnical instrumentation industry in Malaysia, and steadily grows to provide professional advice and services in South-East Asia countries.

Pile Instrumentation

Through revolutionary innovation and persistence, the Com-pany has successfully tested and introduced the Global Strain Extensometer (GLOSTREXT) pile test technology, providing an innovative and improved alternative for conventional pile instrumentation methods commonly prac-ticed for the past few decades. The new technology had been accepted nationally and internationally, and is now widely used in driven piles instrumentation particularly, of which until recently is still too cumbersome and sometimes economically not viable to be instrumented successfully if using conventional and approximate methods.

The invention and innovation on research of GLOSTREXT pile test technology by our founder, Ir. Lee Sieng Kai, has been awarded with numerous national awards, including Gold Medal in the 6th Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE 2007, 29-31 March 2007, Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur), Gold Medal in the International Exposition of Research and Invention of Institution of Higher Learning (Pecipta 2007) held in conjunction with World Innovation Forum at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, co-organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Malaysia and USM. Internationally, the GLOSTREXT innovation has also successfully won Gold Medal in the British Invention Show (BIS 2007) held from 17th to 20th October 2007, London.

Mr. Tan Chze Keong graduated with a Diploma in Civil Engineering from FIT, KL, in 1990. He has focused his career of 19 years on geotechnical instrumentation works, including his early years with Pilecon R & D Sdn Bhd. Presently, he is the senior operations manager of the company, duties assigned including of coordinating,supervising and conducting field instrumentation, testing and monitoring works such as instrumented test piles,inclinometers, piezometers, load cells, pressure cells etc… as well as full-scale load test on structures.

Mr. Peter Diong obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Computing Engineering from Staffordshire University, UK, in 2005. He has focused his career on datalogger and system engineering, development of document controldatabase system, web-based e-monitoring and real time web visualization system for pile test instrumentation technologies and geotechnical monitoring works. Presently, he is the Data Centre and IT Department manager of the company.

WEB MONITORING SERVICES

SDataCentre SDataCentre web monitoring services utilizes professional data analysis software to store logged data, display and publish it to the Web. Our services contain everything you need to view data from any other data text files, and easily view data in the internet.

Data from data logger is collected remotely from Spectest Data Centre using Multilogger / LoggerNet software and the data is stored in our server's local drive. SDataCentre monitors these data files and as soon as new data is collected from a remote datalogger the data is automatically read and imported into our data-base.

As soon as the data is in the database it is accessible online using any Internet browser. The data can be analyzed in different ways.
