The International Foundation is a
full-time academic programme. Our
centres offer a choice of different pathways
that reflect the university’s strengths, so
you can focus on the subjects that are
required for your chosen degree. In addition
to the academic subjects, you will also take
modules in academic English and Study
Skills. The table on page 42 provides
an overview of the degree subject areas
available at our partner universities.

to all international students who achieve
the agreed grades on their International
Foundation programme.
During your programme you will receive
support from your personal tutor including
regular progress reports and advice on your
studies and career plans. Our staff will also
be able to support and guide you through
the procedures for transferring to degree
study at the end of your programme.
What happens if I don’t achieve the grades required?
If you don’t achieve the grades to
progress to your first choice of degree,
INTO’s Placement Service will provide a
personalised service to help you select an
alternative course and/or institution and
guide you through the application process.
As long as you pass the programme, we
guarantee to find you a suitable placement.
INTEGRATED PROGRAMMES
Our Integrated Programmes combine
university preparatory studies with
your degree, allowing you to complete
your degree in a single programme. This
programme is available at Newcastle

With a wide range of subjects to choose
from, you can apply for one student visa for
the full duration of your studies.

INTERNATIONAL YEAR ONE
The International Year One programme
is equivalent to the first year of an
undergraduate degree for international
students.* Students who successfully
complete this programme are guaranteed
entry to the second year of a relevant degree
programme at our partner universities which
means you can complete your studies and
graduate from a leading UK university in
just three years.
Who is the International Year One programme for?
This programme is designed for international
students who have already completed
A-levels or an equivalent qualification but
who have not yet met all the language or
academic requirements for direct entry to
undergraduate degree study.
How is the programme different from direct entry?
The academic subjects are the same as
the first year of degree study but students
benefit from higher contact hours and
tutorial support plus additional support with
developing their language and study skills.
What degrees can I progress to following successful completion of the programme?
The International Year One programmes
lead to a wide range of degrees in Business
Management, Marketing and Engineering.
Some of our partner universities also offer
pathways in more specific subject areas
including Architecture, Psychology or
Hospitality. You can find an overview of
