Pastor’s Pantry Thanksgiving Meal Pack Each year, Pastor’s Pantry has a Thanksgiving meal pack that is delivered to all of their senior clients in need. They are requesting local churches and active givers to graciously donate a specific item to be added to this meal pack. The request for First UMC is canned corn to be donated October 24 – November 14. The Missions Committee is sponsoring this project. Our church-wide goal is at least 400 regular-sized cans and the Missions Committee will match can for can the number donated. Drop off location is in the main hallway near the workroom—look for the signs. Thank you very much for your continued support of this ministry in our community.

Breast Cancer Awareness Cookout Thursday, October 27th (6:00 p.m.) Cancer Services of Davidson County, 25 W. 6th Avenue would like to welcome the community and especially breast cancer patients and survivors to come and enjoy a time of fellowship and reflection. BLOCK Party Sunday, October 30th (5:00pm-6:30pm) First UMC will join together with local area churches to host a BLOCK Party with Games, TRUNK or TREAT, Music, & Hotdogs for the kids!

It’s FUN & EASY. What can you do to participate?

Donate lots of CANDY! Drop off at the church office.

Decorate your trunk (car, van, truck, or use a pop-up canopy), park in State Street parking lot, dress up (if you want to), and give out candy (donated by local churches).

Fidget Quilt Ministry These lap quilts are small and include various colors, textures and activities. They are great for someone with Alzheimer's or Autism. If you know of someone in our church family who could benefit from one, please let Judy Deal know. After filling the needs in our church family, they will be donated to nursing homes in the area.

If you are interested in helping make the fidget quilts, please join us on the first Thursday of each month (November 3) at either 4-5:30 p.m. or 7-8:30 p.m. at the home of Judy Deal. We continue to collect items to make the quilts: assorted fabrics, assorted clothing, trim, buttons, batting, as well as, towels, sheets, pillowcases and blankets. Thank you for your support of our Fidget Quilt Ministry.

Old-Time Hymn Singing Sunday, November 6 (10:00 a.m.) Fellowship Hall Come hear some old favorites sung by the Chancel Choir and special groups. Join in singing “I’ll Fly Away,” “Amazing Grace” and other old favorites. Come early for refreshments.
