Market scores for industrial Ethernet (contd.)
ARC reportMarket Analysis and Forecast Through 2009Industrial Ethernet to Grow 51.4% AnnuallyEthernet provides users an architecture that has a lower total cost of ownership and improved adaptability for their changing business needs. …Economic benefits and broad availability are strong factors driving deployment of industrial networks using Ethernet. Also,Ethernet gains strength from its worldwide technology development efforts. …Ethernet technology is rapidly penetrating the device level of the automation hierarchy. This provides one of those rare opportunities where a new technology can upset the supplier landscape.

Get along with OPEN business
Responsible dimension unchanged– Any defects shall depress your customer, even though
reduced initial cost procuring the open component.– It’s just mortgage, leaving QA to other vendor, we gain.– At initial stage, pick up the better equip from the market– At life cycle stage, comprehend what can be alternative.
Great possibility– As far as keep above on our mind, we never lost.
Just changed, not became difficult.

Quick Review of Vnet/IP Features
Both Vnet/IP and Vnet provide highly reliable and real-time communication that are required of control networks.Vnet/IP also coexists with the general-purpose Ethernet communication and thus provides an appropriate platform for future open environments.Vnet/IP enables networks to be configured flexibly in terms of configuration varieties and price by utilizing commercially available communication equipment.

New FCS (AFV10S/D)
New FCS has been developed that can be expanded up to full-scaled 15 I/O nodes.Achieving a reasonable price curve that takes the number of connected nodes into account, and thus can offer smaller-scaled systems with up to 4 nodes at lower prices.– Optional code /NDEL (Node Expansion) must be specified for
FIO nodes (ANB/ANR).
Can be expanded to include 5 or more nodes through optional extension package for FCS.– LFS1530 (Application Capacity Expansion Package)– 4 nodes ->15 nodes

Using Latest IT Technology
Benefiting from IT advances through introduction of general-purpose IT technology– Varied network equipment can be selected
depending on the application.• Optical transmission units for ultra-long distances,
explosion-proof adapters, etc.• Free from the limitation of YNT
– Use of commercially available network equipment can also improve cost flexibility.
– Highly flexible networks can be designed.

Highly Reliable and Real-time Communication
Enabling communication suitable for control systems with high reliability, and real-time speed. – Realizing a communication incorporating field-proven
Vnet functions.– Redundant configuration and quick bus switching are
available.– Establishing a close connection with Vnet through Vnet

Integration of Non-CENTUM Components
Both open and control communication data can be transferred on the Vnet/IP, enabling the configuration of a platform that facilitates a future integration of the open and control communications.– Enabling non-CENTUM components to be connected.
Note that this configuration requires a hub.

Improved Communication Performance
Thanks to improved communication performance, the maximum number of stations can literally be connected in a single domain—no more restrictions—facilitating system expansion.– Eliminating use of master coefficients– The number of connectable HIS units are not
limited unlike with Vnet.– An increasing number of HMI units have been
connected in a single system, including some systems with more than 16 units. With Vnet/IP, connecting many HIS units does not cause domains to be divided.

The former tokuchu SEM (Sequence of Events Manager) is now available as standard function for Vnet/IP FCS.– Features
• Achieving SOE function with 1-ms resolution through a DI module that has been developed exclusively for SOE and can be ordered as a standard module.
• Vnet/IP systems do not use dedicated Ethernet for SOE, which is required for SOE event collection in a Vnet configuration.
• Stations can synchronize their clocks with each other with an accuracy of 1 ms without an external master clock.

Detecting Detailed Network Statuses
Vnet based systems have a special network monitoring tool. But this tool is not open to customers.Vnet/IP systems, even without a tool, detailed statuses of networks can be obtained. If network trouble occurs, customers can get detailed information, greatly reducing the length of plant shutdown periods.

Points that Require Attention
Vnet/IP is Ethernet based, so the following points require attention: – Network engineering is required. – Max. length of UTP cable is shorter than
Vnet cable. Cascade connection of L2SW or optical fiber extension may be required.
– Network devices are resale products. Procurement work is important. Regularly check information for YHQ recommended devices.
