hat makes a Heesen so distinctive?
Custom built in Holland, it is not just a matter
of style but more importantly, the contemporary
application of engineering: the architecture of
performance. Our concept has evolved over 30
years and the experience we have accrued is
unlike that of any other yacht builder in the
world. Building in aluminium to enormously
demanding tolerances, the Heesen hull-form is
unique – quite simply no other ship shape so
optimises the way our yachts move through
water. Meticulous attention to weight reduction
results in increased levels of luxury. A Heesen
is a Heesen because we are dedicated to one
principle: the performance of luxury.
urelia is a
Heesen 37 metre sportster – our tenth unique yacht of this size.
Her extrovert appearance was inspired by the Owner’s vision for
something distinctly different – a homage to sports car heritage.
Indeed Aurelia was named after the very first Gran Turismo – the
Lancia Aurelia GT.
The world’s finest mid size sports yacht gives each owner and
their designers the opportunity to create without compromise.
From the outset, Aurelia was destined to be highly distinctive
and for more reasons than just her racy colour scheme.
Aurelia powers along at 30 knots thanks to a hull honed for
efficiency and meticulous attention to weight reduction.
Acknowledged as world leaders in the construction of aluminium
yachts, a Heesen requires less power to achieve a given speed –
and less power means less fuel.
Gulf Oil Racing colours were adapted by Dobroserdov Design
and applied to the yacht and even the 14ft Castoldi tender
stored in the large tender garage and launched using the
Heesen track system that is both safer and requires less space
than a traditional crane mechanism. The transom door folds
down to create a large swimming platform.
Our tenth, 37 metre produced yet another
new sun deck layout. At 87 square metres
and extending to nearly 50 per cent of the
overall length, the sun deck is equipped
for every activity. The two Seakeeper gyro
stabilizers virtually eliminate rolling at
anchor without affecting speed or handling.
Aurelia has three options for dining.
The sun deck is protected from cross
breezes thanks to tinted glass panels
set within the superstructure.
SUN DECK
On the main deck, twin tables are often set
for casual dining or cocktails and canapés.
The indoor dining saloon opens out onto
the large terrace, ideal for entertaining.
ith interiors by Bannenberg & Rowell, Aurelia’s
‘GT’ car concept required a considerable degree of detail in
every aspect of the design.
From the Linley Aston Martin chairs to the automobile grille
bookcase insets, every classic feature exudes craftsmanship.
Working with long-term partners such as Sinnex and the Heesen
owned Oortgiese ensured that this complex concept was built
to immaculate standards that have consistently won awards.
Details make the difference. Heesen engineers were able to safely
include a bio-ethanol open fireplace. Knurled stainless steel
cabinet handles were custom built in-house.
Practically every surface was assigned a subtle pattern. In the main saloon,
the diamond leather ceiling (inspired by Bentley sports car seats), the walnut
herringbone floors and the bulkhead panelling, all posed installation challenges.
Patterns need to start and end precisely in corners, horizontally lined fabrics must
stretch with no distortion over many metres of panelling.
he Heesen 37 metre concept gives owners
considerable scope to decide on the internal layout. Extending
to more than 55 square metres, Aurelia’s main saloon includes
a dining area and a conservatory with 180 degree views.
The magnificent hand crafted two metre American walnut dining
table sits under an inset ceiling with a deco centre-light feature.
Sophisticated entertainment and control systems have been
concealed throughout the yacht. A Kaleidescape film and music
library is controlled by customised interfaces. Oculus YachtEye
information gives guests a full feedback about the Aurelia’s
route and destination.
orward on the main deck, the full-beam master is
an exceptionally impressive suite.
Used throughout the cabins, a dramatic ‘tyre tread’ patterned
carpet has been precisely laid to align with doorframes. Inspired
by Jaguar sports car seats, the leather headboard was rib stitched,
glazed and polished to gain a deep lustre..
With heated floors and mirrors, the master bathroom is a
combination of natural stone and white Statuario marble. On
a sports yacht where performance is a high priority, Heesen
expertise enables the use of 4 mm veneers to reduce weight.
uest cabin design pays homage to three
of the greatest names in automotive styling: Bertone’s orange
Lamborghini twin cabin, Pininfarina’s Ferrari red double cabin
and Zagato’s Aston Martin green double cabin.
Spinneybeck leather headboards, teak and walnut details all
form part of very high specification guest accommodation where
additional portholes were built into the ensuite bathrooms.
Only Heesen custom construction gives owners the freedom to
fine-tune the design to achieve exactly what they require. Aurelia
is yet another example of the performance of luxury.
eesen believes that both quality and quantity
of space directly affect the performance and wellbeing of the
crew. Apart from three guest cabins, the customised lower
deck layout has enough space for a comfortable captain’s
cabin. With totally separated crew and guest areas, the overall
result is a larger laundry room and a main deck galley that is
nearly twice the size of most comparable yachts.

specification
nyone looking to purchase a new yacht from Heesenshould be confident that the quality of the Company
is equal to that of the yachts. The fact that this is the case is due in no small
part to the principles of the founder. Frans Heesenfounded the Company that bears his name in 1978.
THE FUTURE FROM THE PASTWhere most yachts were made from steel,
his yachts were to be built in aluminium. Where most yachts haddisplacement hull-forms for slow, long distance cruising, his yachtswere to use semi-displacement hulls and be performance-driven.
Heesen stands for individuality and quality in a world where theseprinciples are increasingly compromised.
A Heesen will always be hand built by craftsmen in Holland. AHeesen will always be custom built to combine the Owner’s ideaswith our expertise. A Heesen will always be the highest denominatorof performance and luxury. A Heesen will always look like a Heesenbecause it performs like a Heesen.
Continuous investment has created one of the most modernconstruction facilities in the world. Great efficiency gives ownerscustom-built yachts using pre-engineered platforms, in a time scaleand to a quality that is unsurpassed.

n 30 years we have delivered over 150 yachts. Our current range of yachts includes aluminium and steel, displacement, semi-displacement and fast displacement hullsfrom 37-65 metres and beyond.
Heesen is recognised as the world leader in aluminiumyachts and our 65 metre fast displacement project is 30 percent more efficient than any other yacht of this size.
Heesen moved into steel production in 2000 as a result ofa specific client request. Indeed 50 per cent of our sales areto existing clients, progressing through options of length, construction material and hull dynamics.
Our Oss shipbuilding complex has nine modern sheds, five dry docks, over 44.000 square metres of space and themost sophisticated construction programme imaginable:orchestrating the integration of more than four million partsper year.
In 1978 Frans had a visionary idea – today it is a companycalled Heesen.
