YOuTH FIT FOR LIFEYouth Fit For Life is a physicalactivity program delivered throughselected after-school sites and inYMCAs. It is an excellent way to

supplement school-based physicaleducation. The program consists ofcardiovascular exercise, resistancetraining, nutrition education, andbehavioral skills training. It teacheschildren condence-building,self-management and goal-settingskills, so when they have a choiceof how they spend their own time,they will choose to be more

physically active.

YMAXThe YMAX program is a componentof after-school programming fundedthrough 21ST CCLC in specic DeKalband Fulton county sites.

YMAX provides an opportunity for

positive interaction with caringadults while students participate ininteresting, age-appropriate activitieswhere they can develop competenciesenabling them to be successfulin school. The YMAX componentis delivered during 36 weeks of theschool year and summer.

WELCOMING HISPANICFAMILIES AFTER-SCHOOLEXTENSION PROGRAM

The Goizueta Foundation in

collaboration with the Y isproviding an after-schoolenrichment program at fourlocations in Hispanic communities.The program provides opportunitiesto serve emerging communities byengaging youth in academic, healthand wellness along with activitiesthat build cultural competencies inprogram participants and leaders.

K-3 LITERACY PROGRAMThe K-3 Literacy Program is acollaboration with the UnitedWay. The 11 Y Prime Time sites inFulton and DeKalb provide a holisticprogram with a focus on language,arts, and literacy. Certied Teachersdeliver lessons in support of the

development and enhancement ofliteracy skills addressing theachievement gap.

YOuTH dEvELOPMENTThe YMCA creates and maintains an environment that

promotes learning. Academic excellence is valued and

encouraged. YMCAs are places of learning and exploration

for youth throughout the year. The Y is committed to extend

opportunities into the summer to improve educational

outcomes for youth. Activities are designed to teach and

challenge. High expectations are the norm for any endeavor

undertaken.

HEALTHY LIvINGThe YMCA provides opportunities to pursue health and tnessactivities promoting good health habits. Structured and

scheduled organized athletic activities promote positive

self-esteem and the appreciation of teamwork.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The YMCA provides experiences to develop and nurturepositive self-esteem in an inclusive environment. One of the

goals of the after-school program is character development.

The YMCA develops character by teaching and demonstrating

values. We use positive adult role models to teach the four

basic values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

AFFORdABLE FEESReasonable affordable fees are offered to provide an opportunity for

all children to participate. The sliding fee scale is available to families

making direct payments for childcare services. Slots at the various

levels are contingent upon the availability of funds.

QuALIFIEd YMCA STAFF TEAMLICENSEd & EXEMPT PROGRAMSThe YMCA seeks to employ only qualied, trained and experienced

staff. We also collaborate with local schools to employ teachers and

para-professionals as an integral part of the staff team. Satisfactory

background checks are required prior to employment for all staff.

The YMCA program operates on a 1:15 staff to student ratio. Certied

Teachers are recruited to assure the academic component supports the

ojectives and goals addressed during the school day.
