STRENGTHENING THE FOUNDATIONS OF COMMUNITY100 YEARS The YMCA of Greater Whittier is an association of all people united in a common effort to put Judeo-Christian principles into daily practice and to enrich the
quality of spiritual, mental, physical, and social life of their families, their community and themselves. At the Y, strengthening the foundations of community is our cause. Every day, we have an extraordinary opportunity to strengthen the bonds of families, educate children and provide experiences for youth development and skills for healthy living, which promote social responsibility for all.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, under the guidance of adults who care about them and believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and developing.
HEALTHY LIVING. Health and well-being are all about balance. That’s why we help people and families build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind, and body in their everyday lives. By helping kids, adults, families and seniors from all backgrounds improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. We work every day to connect people from all backgrounds and support those who need us most. We take on the most urgent needs in our communities and inspire a spirit of service in return. Our participants, volunteers, donors, and staff demonstrate the power of what we can achieve by giving back together.

TOGETHER, WE’RE BETTER—BECOME A PART OF THE Y.When you join the Y, you’re not just a member of a facility; you’re part of a cause. With shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, improving health and well-being, and giving back and supporting our neighbors, a membership gives you and your family the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
Because the Y is for everyone, we bring together people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. At the Y, kids have the opportunity to make friends, have fun, get active and discover what they can achieve. Parents and children spend quality time together. All activities at the Y encourage good health and foster connections with others through sports, exercise and common interests.
Join us today and experience how the Y empowers our members to be healthy and connected, one day at a time.

Exciting news about our East Whittier YMCA!
The East Whittier Y opened in 1970 when Whittier was a very different place. The Y has faithfully served our community with this facility for over 40 years. To ensure this long legacy of service will continue, we are once again responding to our changing community and expanding the Y by creating modern and fl exible spaces to impact people of all ages and backgrounds. The plan includes a new shallow-water pool, enlarging program space for dance, gymnastics and sports and renovating our Healthy Lifestyle Center and locker rooms to enhance, enlarge and modernize. This is an exciting time for the Y, our members and for our community. Come join us! The Y will remain open during construction.

Friends of the YMCA of Greater Whittier call it their second home. The thousands of people who join us and support our cause are our greatest resource when it comes to providing experiences for youth development and skills for healthy living, which promote social responsibility for all.
At the Y, no child, family, or adult is turned away. We provide income-based membership and program fees that provide assistance for individuals and families in fi nancial need within available resources.
Our communities face new challenges that cause a greater need for the work we do. Fortunately, where some see obstacles, we see opportunities for our participants, volunteers, staff, and generous contributors like you. After all, strengthening the community is a cause that starts with you.
