CAMP U-NAH-LI-YAA PLACE OF FRIENDS

WELCOMEEvery parent shares some of the same fundamental hopes for their child. They want them to grow in confidence, character, skills, leadership, and developing positive social relationships. At Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, our summer camps are specifically designed to contribute to those goals. Through our intentional programming and dynamic staff, we’ve been building strong kids for over 75 years. Once your child returns home from a Camp Unie summer camp experience, we are certain that you will notice positive changes in your child as they tell you of their adventures, counselors, cabin mates, newfound hobbies, and having experienced cherished camp traditions that have lived on for many decades. Your investment in a summer camp experience is just that: an investment. It’s one that will pay dividends in your child’s development into a well-rounded, healthy person for many years to come. We look forward to meeting your camper this summer - or welcoming them back!

ABOUT CAMP U-NAH-LI-YAOwned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA, Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya is located near Suring, Wisconsin about 65 miles north of Green Bay. Nestled in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, camp is situated on 140 wooded acres with three bodies of water, newly-renovated facilities, and an abundance of nature.

ABOUT OUR STAFFAt the heart of the Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya experience is our team of enthusiastic and dedicated staff. Summer staff members are selected based on their proven abilities working with children and desire to support our mission of building strong kids of solid character. All staff members are at least 18 years old and undergo extensive interviewing, reference checks, and background checks. Pre-camp training includes outdoor skills, activity planning, managing group dynamics, safety training, and child development.

ACTIVITIESYour camper will grow in independence as they create their very own morning schedule for Monday through Thursday. They will individually choose the activities they are interested in and will attend a session that is specifically programmed for their age group and ability level. In addition, their cabin will choose more activities throughout the week to participate in as a whole group with their counselor. Finally, rounding out the week are many all-camp games, songs, themed events, Thursday skit night, campfire ceremonies, and much more!

FACILITIES AND SERVICESSUNDAY CHECK-INAll camp programs begin on Sunday. Arrive for check-in between 1:30 - 3:00pm to move your camper into their cabin, meet the staff, and turn in any medications. Parents and guests are also welcome to tour camp and stay for our Opening Ceremony at 3:30pm.

HEALTH AND SAFETYAt Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya, the safety of your camper is our #1 priority. All camp staff members are certified in First Aid and CPR. Waterfront activities are closely supervised by certified lifeguards and our Waterfront Director. All boaters wear lifejackets at all times. Campers who wish to swim without a lifejacket will be tested for their swimming abilities on Sunday afternoon by certified lifeguards. (The swim test is optional – campers who choose not to attempt the swim test may still use all swim sections, including the waterslide, as long as they wear a lifejacket.) All of our medical procedures are overseen by a physician, and a registered nurse is on-site daily for medication distribution and first aid. All campers must have a completed Health Form submitted to camp at least two (2) weeks prior to their arrival (the form is provided with your confirmation materials). Campers must have had a physical examination within two (2) years of their camp attendance and their Health Form must be reviewed and signed by a physician each year even if they’ve attended camp before.

COMMUNITY LIVINGCampers live in cozy cabins situated along the shores of Chute Pond with their counselor. Each cabin has hardwood floors, bunk beds with safety rails, and an outdoor fire circle. Cabins are fully insulated and offer a clean living space full of camp charm for summer campers. Modern restrooms and showers are centrally located near the cabins. Boys and girls live on opposite sides of camp.

FAMILY-STYLE MEALSCamp serves all-you-can-eat, family-style meals that are healthy and tasty. Sample menus can be viewed online at www.campunahliya.org. If your camper has special dietary requirements, please note these on their Health Form and feel free to contact the camp office at 715.276.7116 to discuss how we can accommodate those needs.

CAMP STOREThe Camp Store sells souvenirs, t-shirts, novelties, healthy snacks, and beverages. Your camp fee includes a $5 camp store credit for your child to use during their session. You may add more money into your child’s account at the time of registration or at camp during Sunday check-in. Any balances in your child’s camp store account at the end of their week will be contributed to the YMCA’s Annual Campaign, a fund which provides financial assistance for our summer camp families.

RETURN TRANSPORTATIONTO GREEN BAYCamp provides return transportation to Green Bay on the last day of each camp session. The bus arrives at the West Side YMCA, 601 Cardinal Lane, at 4:30PM. You can choose to pick up your camper right at camp at 2:45pm on the last day of their session, if youprefer. (Most sessions end on Fridays, but some special programs such as adventure trips end on a different day.)

WEEKEND STAY-OVER - $75If your camper is registered for two consecutive weeks of camp, you can enroll in our convenient weekend stay-over option. Campers who stay at camp between their sessions are supervised by our camp counselors and enjoy camp activities, meals, and fun throughout the weekend. Campers will also have the opportunity to do their laundry.

CIT-1, CIT-2, Assistant Counselor (AC), and some adventure trips are already two weeks long and automatically include a weekend stay-over in the camp fee. The weekend stay-over option is available to all other campers following weeks 1, 4, and 7.

*Note: Our session numbers are the same as other Green Bay YMCA summer programs including day camp, School-Age Child Care (SACC), and the Teen Adventure Program (TAP).

CHOOSE THE PRICE THAT FITS YOUR FAMILYWe understand that our camp families have differing abilities to pay, so we offer a tiered pricing system to better accommodate all financial situations. Your choice does not influence the quality of the camp experience that your child will receive. Please consider selecting the highest tier that your family can afford. The tier that you choose is confidential and completely up to you.

TIER AMost accurately reflects the true and actual cost of camp.

TIER BA partially subsidized rate, but more closely reflects the actual cost of camp.

TIER COur historically standard program rate, which does not represent the true cost of camp. This rate is subsidized through fundraising, special events, and sustaining contributions.

CAMP FOR ALL: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEFinancial assistance is available for camp through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Please contact us at 715.276.7116 for more information or download an application from www.campunahliya.org.
