The 482.6 mm (19 inch) enclosure can be equipped with up to 3 surgeprotection components to protect active network components such ashubs, switches (class D) or telecommunication systems. NET Protector istypically used for Ethernet, Token Ring, E1 and telephone systems.

It only requires the space of one vertical module and is generally installedin terminal boards. It is inserted as a patch panel with surge protectionor as a retrofit version for patching between the patch panel and thedevice to be protected.

NET Protectors are modular in design. The empty enclosure can be optionally equippedwith 1, 2 or 3 surge protection components.

The surge protection components do notonly have a different protective circuit,but are also connected differently. Whilethe protected output is always designedas a RJ45 connection system, the inputcan be designed as insulation displace-ment or RJ45 system. Insulation displace-ment terminals are often used to equip anew installation which does not incorpo-rate a patch panel yet. The RJ45 version isa retrofit version for existing systems andis patched easily between the patch paneland the active component.

DEHNpatch is the first Cat. 6A certified patch cable with built-in surge pro-tection that can be used according to IEEE 802.3at for voltages up to 57 V.

Designed as a patch cable, DEHNpatch is easy to install. It is equally suit-ed for use in new installations or retrofitting into existing installationswith little effort. DEHNpatch is simply plugged in between the patch panel and the activecomponent (a switch for example) instead of the conventional patchcable. The snap-in mechanism of the supporting foot allows the device tobe safely earthed via the DIN rail. For single applications, deliveryincludes a piece of DIN rail and fixing material. For multiple applicationsin 19“ distribution boards, the DEHNpatch mounting set should be usedwhich is available as accessory.

DEHNpatch fulfils the requirements of Category 6 and can be universallyused for all data services up to nominal voltages of 57 V. It is well suitedfor existing services in offices and industrial environments such asGigabit Ethernet, ATM or ISDN as well as future services such as Voiceover IP and Power over Ethernet. Due to its fully shielded design, DEHNpatch can be used in shielded andunshielded networks. Its width is similar to that of an RJ45 socket, allow-ing up to 24 devices to be installed next to one another in one series andto be integrated into a 19" rack.DEHNpatch with a total patch cable length of 3 m and 5 m is supplied asstandard (other lengths available on request).

DSM TM surge arresters are installed close to terminal equipment andare designed for Touch Manager wave (Siemens). The surge arresters areintegrated in flush-mounted or small distribution boards and connectedto the local equipotential bonding of the terminal equipment. Because of

the universal pin assignment options of the pluggable RJ45 output, it canbe used for protecting both ISDN S0 and Ethernet 10 BT (class C cabling)applications. The screw terminals at the input can be connected to bothrigid and flexible conductors or shields.

Universal lightning current / surge arrester

The compact DEHNbox combined lightning current and surge arrester isdesigned for protecting information and automation equipment and sys-tems. Due to its new actiVsense technology, the nominal voltage is notspecified. This allows the arrester to be used for voltages ranging from 0 to 180 V with a ± 5 V/50 MHz signal voltage. The nominal current is lim-ited to 100 mA which is completely sufficient for information technologysystems.

Its innovative actiVsense technology allows the arrester to detect the sig-nal voltage and to automatically adapt its voltage protection level to thisvoltage. This makes the arrester ideal for applications where changing orslowly fluctuating signal levels (≤ 400 Hz) are to be expected. In case ofinterference, DEHNbox arresters have an adapted minimal residual volt-age for every signal voltage to provide maximum protection for devicesand system circuits connected to them.

DEHNbox is available in two versions. The four-pole version provides pro-tection for two separate balanced interfaces, that is the arrester auto-matically detects the operating / signal voltage for every pair and opti-mally adapts the voltage protection level for every signal circuit. Thisallows to protect two different balanced interfaces by means of a single

arrester, thus reducing installation time, saving costs and reducing thenumber of arresters to be used. If only one signal interface is to be pro-tected, a two-pole version can be used for a balanced data interface (onepair).

With its surface-mounted plastic enclosure with integrated fixing lugs,DEHNbox is ideally suited for wall mounting and can be easily retrofittedinto existing equipment and systems. The IP 65 degree of protectionallows the arresters to be used in harsh environments such as in moistenvironments. Cables are therefore entered via easy-to-install self-seal-ing rubber membranes. These membranes allow easy and fast installationand prevent the ingress of moisture and dust. Both the line wires and aninstalled line shield can be contacted by means of spring-loaded termi-nals without the use of screws. Two separate terminals allow a line shieldto be directly or indirectly connected to the equipotential bonding sys-tem.

The arresters are ideally suited for domestic and industrial use in infor-mation technology transmission systems such as telecommunication, busand measuring and control systems.

The surface-mounted surge arresters with a modern design particularlyprotect modems and telephone systems with RJ plugs. The plug-in termi-nals allow easy installation.

Compared to conventional devices ( ... ECO), the different ...I types havean additional LED indicating the sup-ply voltage. This helps to immediatelyrecognise system failures. Further -more, a wide range of accessoriessuch as connecting cables or fixingmaterial is available.

Their integrated connection system allows DLI ISDN I arresters to protecttwo terminal devices at the same time. The operating state indicator onlylights up if the NTBA is also connected to the power supply system.
