Pray to God, not to anyone else

We don’t have to pray to “them”. Most Filipinos have a prayerful life. But

the question is, are we really praying to the one who can provide all of our petitions and prayer intentions?

It is a misconception of the people regarding whom to pray for in different times of needs. There are those who pray to a saint who can bless their trip overseas, who can give hope to hopeless situations just like during times of examination and who can heal the wounds of the inflicted ones. Who can give all these things?

It is only God who can answer our prayers, not anyone else. Pray only to God, not to the mother, not to the saints. It says in 1 Corinthians 10:14 “...flee from the worship of idols”. We should not be like the hypo-crites who keep on babbling prayers or using meaningless repetitions according to the bible. Maybe these practices are already part of our culture which is really a “fear factor” for some to change or to undergo transfor-mation in terms of their traditions that already became the center of their beliefs or the core of their faith.

A story is often told to students regard-ing the effectiveness of a prayer especially

This is a new section of YEEFEE Volume 3 that aims to look into our cultural heritage and traditions and determine what brought fear into our minds with such kind of belief that it already became a factor for not serving well our God and our country.

Summer Escapade Everyone’s excited FOR summer so as

the Youth of Iglesia Filipina Independiente of Anao.

After some series of tiresome but wor-thy, meaningful and fulfilling programs and activities of YIFI all throughout the year, these youngster still seize the chance and find time to have a break and enjoy, thus, going to a resort or having a picnic has be-come a yearly trend every summer vacation.

This year, excursion was a bit different not just in a noticeable increase in number of YIFIs who joined, but because they have done it outside the province. Although its just in Tarlac’s neighbor province Pampanga, the experience was really new to most and nota-bly remarkable.

YIFI members marked May 9 and re-served the day full-packed with activities of bonding and teambuilding with other mem-bers.

Carried by a shuttle bus and an L300 van, they traveled early in the morning to Greenville Resort, Pampanga for them to have their planned outing. As expected, eve-rybody enjoyed the swimming and sliding. Swimming techniques were also shared by those members who knew how to swim to those who don’t . There were also games

A PLACE OF NOWHERE by Angela Claire Badar

Aspiring to reach for the clouds

through the top of the mountains, beneath the streams that babble, the soft touch of miracles are in your hands. Nothing is hard in this world. “If you dare to scale the heights”.

Along the islands, shining rocks grow, filled with many blooming flowers, and chirp-ing birds, followed by the mild whisper of the wind. What a chilling moment ever! I can hear the streams laughing, the trees swaying and the mountains longing for my embrace.

Over there, I see the shadow of hope upon the heaven of sacrifices. As everyone glances, even a single problem don’t bother you because of the angles singing on your besides, everyone feels the love of GOD that keeps you warm.

Look around, and then you can sense the comfort of every inch around you, cov-ered with flowers that smell is fragrant, well I can compare that to my mother’s specialty.

How lovely experience is that perfect mo-ment to a unique place.

As the night gently moves, you can dance freely with the rainbow light of the moon. Even blind eyes can see the meteors sparkling and burning. Blessed by the Al-mighty God, so nothing can destroy the night of a wonderful dream.

The night is long enough to ride on this kind of great dream. How lucky is the poor, sleeping before the door of NOWHERE fi-nally closed.

Airplanes nor boats are not needed as long as you are dreaming, rather you can go anywhere with a pillow in your heart in the soft relaxing bed.

Make your occasion more special.

A fully-booked BSCom

The Bible Study Committee, headed by Angelo Alexis Barroga conducted several activities this summer up to June making it fully-booked in the schedule of their ministry. Finally, the YIFI Singles Ministry was already created that caters youth ages 20-35 who are currently “single” in status. Their monthly meeting is scheduled every 1st Sunday of the month. Another important event held was the monthly prayer meeting on May 22 and fast-ing on June 5. The fasting is scheduled every 1st Friday of the month.

The committee also started its Campus Ministry by meeting the YIFIs and some in-terested students on June 19 held at the Anao High School. The YIFI spearheaded by the BSCom also revisited Barangay Baguin-doc for a follow up outreach and feeding program for the children of the said barangay on June 21.- Red Quimado

Family Ministry

A Family Ministry initiated by Bro Eumer Pascua, in cooperation with the YIFI and WOPIC was conducted last April and May. In every session of the family, there is a Bible Study after which they share some experiences because they feel God is with

them who makes miracles. They also shared some words that will encourage them to go to church to hear mass.

We went house to house to every Barangays like Poblacion, Don Ramon, Car-men, San Roque, Rizal, Baguidoc and Casili. In this manner, those inactive family mem-bers of IFI are encouraged to have time to go back to church. As a result, the efforts and time we spent are worth it because it fulfilled our intensions. And now, as a matter of fact, they are now participating in church activities.-Iris Camille Mina

EXECOM Planning

Executive Committee (ExeCom) heads had their 2nd quarter planning on May 30, 2009 for the month of June to August. Their meeting also included the accomplishment reports of each committee for the past three months, March to May.

Every leader put in their ideas and gave their best to give best shots hopefully this coming months. The Presidential Plan-ning and Program Coordinator Ron Allan Quimado, also joined the meeting and smoothened the flow of discussion. They also discussed some Youth Idol concerns and some added regular activities.

The Execom Planning would be quar-terly as they agreed during the meeting to avoid rushing or running out of time. Every-one believes that through proper planning, well execution and with God’s grace, goals are really attainable.-Krist Barroga

Food Raising Activity

A celebration of a bountiful Harvest and for the prosperous year that God has given, made the farm-ers, professionals, entrepre-neurs, students and other parishioners of the church gathered for the Harvest Festival, an annual thanks-giving festivity of the church every May 16 and now in its 4th year.

A parade of “kuligligs” dressed with veggies, palms and products has turned the roads where it routed blissful early in the morning, marking the beginning of the festival. The Local Gov-ernment Unit of Anao also accepted the church’s invitation and joined the parade with its own float filled with its products like ylang ylang.

Thanksgiving mass was offered and followed by a “salu-salo” prepared by gener-ous church members. A simple program was prepared by the YIFI that has made the event more fun and meaningful. Talents in

singing and dancing were also showcased by the YIFI and the KIFI. WOPIC members laugh out loud as some of them played “hephep hooray” and “mukha-sim”

At the afternoon, there was a YIFI fun games and palarong pambata.

Everybody was fulfilled and satisfied in a day filled with smiles and laughs.

Jasmin Angela Quimado was the head of the event and was very thankful for each and everyone’ cooperation.

Harvest Festival By Jasmin Angela Quimado

In line with the church's battle cry “Pro Deo et Patria”, members of the Youth of Iglesia Filipina Independiente extended its hand to the Local Govern-ment Unit of Anao in its participation in the 136th Pista ng Lalawigang Tarlac cele-brated on May 18-22, 2009.

The YIFIs joyfully helped in decorating the float of Anao which was exhibited during the float parade and street dancing competi-tion at Tarlac City on May 18.

Most of the male YIFI members also joined as dancer and drummers of the

Anao’s street dancing team who was judged as the first-ever champion of the street danc-ing competition in the province. Because of the YIFI’s desire to support their town Anao, they traveled to Tarlac City to personally cheer and give moral support to the partici-pants.

“I’m so happy even though I am not one of the dancers, it felt like I belong to the victory of the dancers and all the shouting and cheering were worth it” Chartitie Aglibot said on their way home after witnessing the showdown.

13 April –June 2009

I was sitting in the corner of an emptied room of nowhere. Wonderin’ if God still beside me asking so many questions that only he can answer. I felt I’m in verge of sorrows because of the vagueness of life. There something bothering me so I stand in front of an old mirror where I can see my reflection. There, I see myself wear-ing old and ragged clothes and barefooted I felt pity and a bit of pain of what I saw then tears start to fall on my face. I need to find food before the famine comes and a place where I can lay my tortured body. While walking in the street finding for food, I heard a telephone rang to a nearby telephone booth so I answered it. a soft and tender voice spoke to my ears and I

asked him if he is God then, he replied “Yes”. Happiness filled my entire heart as I started asking questions but God only said, “My child you must find the right place. A place where you can be free to find yourself. Your are lucky even you have the misery yet you still have magnanimous heart where I am looking for.” The vanity inside my heart is now replaced by hope. The things that I’m longing for is now answered. Answers that can give me strength to face the challenges and the bitterness of life. Now I know that I’m not the less fortunate among all things God created. It is not how lucky or unlucky are in this world but how you can face it through the power of magnanimity.

BRIGADA ESKWELA & Book Labelling

Volunteerism might be one of the com-mon nature of YIFI. This act really helped them in reaching out their service in church, in campus and in community. And even the summer end wasn’t spoiled and was maxi-mized by helping others.

On a back-to-school drama of Anao High School, YIFI joined the Brigada Esk-wela on May 21, 2009. and on May 29, 2009 they helped in book labeling in Anao Munici-pal Hall. Keep it up guys. Keep moving.-Krist Barroga

Early Promotion of YI Year 3 The Youth of Iglesia Filipina Independi-

ente had shown their creativity by making Youth Idol Bookmarks during the last week of their vacation.

To make the bookmarks youthful and trendy-looking, they used recycled materials like old colorful magazines and cardboards.

Cute bookmarks were given to the first year students of Anao High School on the first week of classes.

It serves as an early promotion of Youth Idol year three. Welcome freshmen!!! -Ruth Barroga

DYEC regular meeting held

YIFI-Anao attended the Diocesan Youth Executive Meeting held at Camiling Parish on May 17, 2009 to assess and evalu-ate the recently-concluded Summer Youth Camp 2009 in Mayantoc. They DYEC also scheduled a special meeting on May 29, 2009 to tacked the AYCC on June 5-7, 2009. It was also during that time that the DYEC planned a teambuilding activity to establish a better working relationship among the youth leaders.

Act of Commitment

“COMMITMENT is indeed a key to

success and fulfilment” – Rommelin Chaves The top 3 executive committee heads

gave their ka-YIFIs a very memorable part of their life as an organization member. It is one of the in-lined activities of the YIFI which is called the Act of Commitment that was held last May 8, 2009.

The purpose of this activity is to make every member accord to each other and build trust to their leaders so as the leaders to their members. It became a very success-ful one because of the unity and cooperation that the members have manifested. The event was also filled with testimonials and experiences sharing relative to their stay in the org and their life with Christ. –Mariane Jenese Tabile

YIFI at Sto. Domingo Santacruzan

Last May 12, the organization ex-tended their service at Brgy. Sto. Domingo during their celebration of 7th Grand Sta. Cruzan. YIFI served as choir in a mass of-fered by the barangay people as the day of the celebration started. They also rendered a doxology during the coronation of sagalas.-Mariane Jenese Tabile

when it is relayed first to Mary. They say that if the mother requested the prayer to her son, Jesus won’t have any second thoughts about it and just be obedient to her mother in answering our prayers. We hope that we will not have a “thinking” like that. God is more than willing to listen to our cries. We don’t have to worry about our needs for He ulti-mately knows everything about it.

It’s good to know the biography of the “saints” because they really lived an exem-plary life. St. Francis is revered as a person who loves animals. But he cannot, say for example make our barangays prosperous by bringing rain into our land thus producing good crops. St. John is highly regarded as a person of integrity because he did not squeal a secret confession of somebody while Mary is honored because she is a woman of obe-dience. But both of them cannot attend to our prayers because they are only humans. Who is more powerful to a God who shut up the

mouth of the lions, who made all the stars in the universe and who send His own son Jesus Christ to save us from our sins? He already gave His son to save us from the fires of hell because of our sins. God already did the greatest love and He can do every-thing if we only ask Him. It says in Luke 1:37, “For nothing is impossible with God”.

We don’t need an intercessor for our prayers. The joke/saying goes that if the prayer is requested to someone else, there is a possibility that it will encounter a heavy traffic that it will no longer reach God. So why pray to others if we already have an easy access to our loving God. He has al-ready given His son to die on the cross on behalf of our sins; how much more our little petitions to Him. This is not about how faith-ful we are to Him but it is He who is faithful to His promises. It is not because of what we do or who we are but it is because of what He does and who He is.

BETTYFUL KUBO Inaugurated by Mariane Jenese Tabile

Madam Betty Badar Lacba-yan (BBL) granted one of YIFIs dreams which is to have special place in conducting gatherings such as meeting, planning and other activities. Madam donated a ready made kubo for the organiza-tion, through the help of Coun. Orlando Badar, and her family. The kubo was named after her which is BETTYFUL KUBO and was blessed last May 31, 2009. The blessing of the kubo was followed by a simple ribbon cutting led by Mdm Betty and her cousins Mrs. Alingkastre, Mrs. Sal-cedo, Bishop Sampayan, YIFI, and also the other Parish Council Officers.

YIFI also gave an overview of accom-

plishments and plans of the organization. To Madam Betty, we extend our sin-

cere gratitude to your very kind heart! More blessings to you, and to your family as well. God bless!

You’re so Bettyful! Some YIFIs with the cheerful giver of Bettyful Kubo right after its blessing.

to other youth. It is also in such activity that camaraderie among the members is en-hanced.

After the registration of delegates and the holy mass, each delegation filed for the opening parade around the town proper of Mayantoc. Everyone also enjoyed the torch parade during the first night along the sloppy roads of the town. After the torch parade, campers gathered at the wide yard of the church to witness the presentations prepared by different parishes in the Cultural Night. It was also during the cultural night that Mr. and Ms. YIFI Idol was first presented wearing their cultural attire. Each day, lectures were given to the campers. Sports has always been part of the SYC and the scorching heat

of the sun did not hinder the players to play ball games such as basketball and volleyball where YIFI boys of La Paz and YIFI girls of Anao were acclaimed as champion in the said sports events respectively.

The second night of the camp featured the finals night of the Mr. and Ms. YIFI Idol. The night of talents was filled with shouting and cheering as each contestant shows off their talent in singing and each time they come out wearing the different attires as-signed to them. The show was really a won-derful experience for the contestants and viewers.

SYC 2009, though rainy, was a suc-cess because of the determined host parish and cooperative participants.

YIFIs turned red! The Sports enthusiast headed

by sports commissioner, Lourenz Albert Cardona led the YIFI in the first hottest “Reddish Cup” on May 20, 2009 in Anao Covered Court that aims to bond YIFI more and develop their skills in sports.

Summer Vacation: Time for Fun & Learn by Cris Evert Cardona

“It often requires more courage to read some books than it does to fight a bat-tle.” Why? Because many of us think that reading books is very boring. But being an avid reader gives you the advantage be-cause you can learn many things in reading books. That is why an exhibit about books and reading was conducted by the YIFI and some youth idol season 2 finalists. It is enti-tled “BOOKWORM: The Reading Addicts II”. Yes it’s the second time. This exhibit was opened to the public for them to be able to understand the advantages of reading books. The exhibit was launched last May 4, 2009, at the Barangay Hall of Poblacion,

Anao, Tarlac. The opening of this exhibit was attended by the Brgy. officials of Poblacion and some Day Care Workers and Coun. Emerenciana R. Rivera. The opening pro-gram started with a Doxology performed by

A Reading Caravan, in cooperation with some Youth Idol 2 finalists and some SK Chairmen, was launched. It’s objective was to teach in-coming 2nd and 3rd graders to read well, it was conducted at the Brgy. Hall of Sto. Do-mingo, & Don Ramon on May 4-8 held simultaneously with the bookworm exhibit and in Bantog on May 29-31. In the reading caravan YIFI,

together with Youth Idol Gina, Nikki and Almyra and SK Ian Tabile, SK Jesus Vega and SK James Worthy Acosta, teach the young pupils syllable reading & correct pronunciation of words, so that they will be ready for the incoming school year. Also the SK chairman of the said barangays was there to teach the children in their barangay, at the same time support the program. It is also a weeklong activity wherein everyday different YIFI teachers are there to help the pupils improve their reading abilities.

The YIFI also gave a present to the children of Barangay Rizal. A film vieweing of the play “Sino ka ba Jose Rizal” the very first play of the YIFI was watched by the kids of barangay Ri-zal. The film viewing took place at the barangay hall of Rizal, Anao, Tarlac on May 8, 2009 in the cooperation of Brgy. Captain Rosemarie Torres and Barangay Kaga-wad Lily Estolano

The YIFI will not stop from organizing programs that will help the children of our town.

The children really deserved some reward that is why on May 28, 2009 a kiddie treat at the same time the closing exercises for the workshop was prepared for them by the Kids’ Ministry where they received gifts and their certificate of completion. They also had fun games and back-to-back perform-ances with their ate and kuya.

Surely, the workshop has made the children’s as well as the teacher’s summer vacation a meaningful one.

The said activity is still under the Juve-nile Rejuvenation Program that started in 2006 in line with the organizations’ advocacy to combat juvenile delinquencies through early education.

when it is relayed first to Mary.

To Madam Betty, we extend our sin-

to other youth.
