Year 9 Options – staff in action 2 March 2018 Dear Parent We have had a great week sharing with our parents! On Tuesday afternoon we held a Parent focus Group presentation on ‘Encouraging Digital Citizenship at GEMS’. The talk was about what is taught in the GIP curriculum and in particular, on the topic of online safety and digital citizenship. The parents who came enjoyed it enormously and as a consequence know how to monitor the online habits of their children. On Wednesday morning Year 9 parents came along to the ‘IGCSE Options’ meeting where they learned about the core curriculum and the optional subjects for IGCSE. But which ones to choose?! The specialist staff did a great job in convincing them of their own subject but at the end of the day, a choice has to be made… More Year 9 Options staff action! Reporting Update: The Secondary end of term 2 reports will be issued slightly later than originally scheduled as we have been busy working on setting up our reports in a new software system. Use of the new software system will mean that going forward parents will be able to view and download their child’s reports online via a parent portal.

Year 9 Options – staff in action

Dear Parent

We have had a great week sharing with our parents! On Tuesday afternoon we held a Parent focus Group presentation on ‘Encouraging Digital Citizenship at GEMS’. The talk was about what is taught in the GIP curriculum and in particular, on the topic of online safety and digital citizenship. Reporting Update: The Secondary end of term 2 reports will be issued slightly later than originally scheduled as we have been busy working on setting up our reports in a new software system. Use of the new software system will mean that going forward parents will be able to view and download their child’s reports online via a parent portal.

As such, the end of term 2 Secondary reports will go out to parents on Monday 26 March, with Secondary Parent Teacher Conferences rescheduled for Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March. Thank you for your understanding as we work towards making accessing feedback on your child’s progress and attainment easier for you!

Table Tennis at MSSPP

Zachary Sim (primary student) also represented the Nibong Tebal team, who won a gold medal in the boys under-12 team event (below). Well done Zachary!

Golf

On Wednesday Farah won the Penang School Sport Council Tournament (MSSPP). She is now preparing her next tournament (Myfuture Tournament) today.

Chiam Jie Zu and Chiam Zhi Yi (secondary students) won the silver medal in the under-18 girls' doubles competition – fantastic achievement – congratulations to them!

Please note: There will be a Sports Awards Assembly on 14 March for secondary students and at the next KS2 class assembly for primary.

GIP students take part in the CNY Festival in Georgetown

Above are the pictures from the CNY festival held at Georgetown Heritage area last Sunday. Six of our students represented the school. They performed two dances, and one student, Jocelyn Lee, was involved in the opening song (bottom picture) as well as a solo song performance. Go GIP Students!!

Can you support the Wizard of Oz? Parent Volunteers required Our school production is quickly approaching and we have teams of staff and students working behind the scenes on props and costumes.

Make your wishes and dream …. In the Primary foyer we have created a Wishing Tree and we would like to encourage all students, staff and parents to bring in a ribbon to tie to the tree and make a wish. Who knows what wishes and dreams this year will see come true for us all!

Advertising and Sponsorship Opportunity As you are aware our Wizard of Oz whole school production is taking place at the end of this term. We are currently working hard, both on and behind stage to produce an awesome show!
