The weather on the first day was perfect! After just over two hours of uphill tramping to the hut we spent the afternoon exploring the top of the ranges, visiting Henry Peak and having a great time with the ice covering the tarns (spring fed lakes on top of the ranges). We made some new international friends in the hut and cooked a gourmet dinner of noodles and pasta and sauce, followed by roasted marshmallows and hot chocolate. A little fun chasing cheeky possums around the hut capped off a great evening. The weather turned nasty overnight, but that didn’t bother us in our warm sleeping bags. After hot porridge for breakfast we made our way out by lunchtime and returned to school to finish off our marshmallows! We thank Warren Day and Kane Innes for their help on our tramp. Without you we wouldn’t have had such a great time. Left: The trampers celebrate reaching the tarn at the top of the Pouakai Ranges Room 7 & 8 learn together in the library while their classes were being renovated. Start date for 2016 School will start on Monday February 1 in 2016, with Term 1 ending Friday 15 April. I hope that over the term break you can enjoy some less rushed time with your family and your children will come back rested and refreshed to do their “Best Always”. On behalf of all the staff Roz Miller, Principal
