Year 7 Enrichment Week 2015

Monday - @Bristol Science centreTuesday to Thursday – Bushcraft residential trip

MONDAY: @Bristol Science centre Arrive in school uniform. Register with tutor in form rooms and then line up

in the courtyard in tutor groups, at 8.50 am. Bring packed lunch No more than £5 spending money, if you want to. There is a small souvenir shop, into which only 20

students are allowed at a time.

COACH 1 – 7A and C COACH 2 – 7H and W Parents to collect from school at 5.30pm.

Expectations: No running around No shouting Nobody to leave the building Respect for property Do not drop litter (including on coach) Respect for other visitors ( general public) Follow the instructions of your group leader Do not talk in the Planetarium Do not make us wait at the end of the trip

Bushcraft 2015

On Tuesday Arrive in comfortable clothes for camp Arrive with your luggage and go straight to the

theatre to drop off luggage and for registration. Coach 1: Camp 1 (except Tent 1) Mrs Adkins, Mrs

Horne Coach 2: Camp 2 (except Tent 4) Mr Burge, Mr

O’Loughlin. Coach 3: Mrs Ormston with Tent 1 from Camp 1

and

Tent 4 from Camp 2

On ThursdayReturn to school at approx. 2.45-3pm

Expectations

DO NOT –

Talk whilst being taught and given instructions by Bushcraft staff

Mess around and talk after last call for sleep at night time

Run around camp (unsafe) Swap tents – we need to know exactly where you

are in an emergency. Let us down with poor/disrespectful/unsafe

behaviour. Failure to follow this expectation will result in parents being called to collect you.

Expectations:Do –

Get involved in activities as much as possible. (take risks)

Respect and support each other in your groups ( collaborate and empathise)

Listen to instructions from SHFGS staff and Bushcraft staff

Respect each other’s need for sleep, by not making noise and chatting/giggling loudly early in the morning. (– not good to have grumpy staff!)

Drink plenty!

Go prepared – physically and with open mind

Eat the food – you’ll need the energy

Know how and when to take your own medication.

Have fun!

In addition to your main bag, bring a small back pack containing the following items ready for the walk to camp from the coach drop off:

- Waterproofs

- A bottle of water

- Any necessary medication they may need during the day

- Sun cream; of course this is weather dependent and they’ll let us know what the weather's looking like next week!

- Suitable footwear

Your main luggage bag/case will be taken for you in a trailer from the coach to camp

Pack swim wear and towel for swimming!

Ensure all medication is in a clear, named bag

Do NOT bring money – there is nothing to spend it on – unless you need it to get home on the bus.

There is no signal for mobile phone use at camp. Best to leave at home.
