When the song refers to “macaroni”, it’s not talking about the

cheesy food, it is talking about the wigs that the British wore

The tune of the song came from the nursery rhyme “Lucy

Locket”

“Doodle” means fool, or simpleton

Yankee Doodle was written during the Revolutionary war in

1755 Dr. Richard Schuckburg

Schuckburg was a British surgeon, and wrote the song after

seeing colonial troops lead by Colonel Thomas Fitz Jr.
