Auto tuning function This feature aut oma tically sets the pan, tilt, spray angle,EQ, and gain for the se lected speaker array. The speaker angle (pan, tilt, spray ang le) is auto mat icallyset to average out the sound pressure level wi thin therange covered by the array speakers .

The Y-S 3 i s equipped w i th two powerful suppor t fea tures to const ruct the bes t sound system in minimal t ime. These featuresauto mat ically compute the best settings for each provided condit ion with just a few e asy steps. While more specificadjus tments wi l l be necessary w hen making the actual se t t ings , these features enable you to const ruct a h ighly a ccuratesystem w hi le minimizing t ime and effor t needed for sys tem design.

• This acoustic simulation software combines theessential elements of Yamaha Professional Audioacoustic technology for all sound handled from input tooutput, including mixers, DSP, amps, speakers, and eventhe venue’s design.• The software provides superb accuracy and reliabilitythanks to the knowledge and experience of the YamahaCenter for Advanced Sound Technologies, which is atthe forefront of the world’s acoustic technology with itsActive Field Control and Acoustic Modeling, and hasemployed its advanced acoustic technology in theacoustic design of many concert halls.• With sophisticated graphic user interface and user-friendly settings wizard, simulation can be performedprecisely and easily.• You can easily set and change the venue shape, conditions, and other aspects with the wizard, andmake graphical visualizations of sound pressure leveldistribution at receiving points, frequencycharacteristics graphs, and contour figures. Plus itprovides auralization, which lets you hear the soundwith your ears using any sound source for even bettersensory perceptible monitoring.• The built-in Yamaha Speaker “Installation Series” librarymakes it easy to use with the Yamaha Power Amp PC-1N

series, XP series, and the DME64N or DME24N DigitalMixing Engines to facilitate total acoustic system planning.• You can generate DDF data for the DME64N orDME24N* of the simulation result and export it to theDME. You can put the simulation result to use in youractual system setup quickly and with little effort.*: Usewi th the DME24requiresa simple data conversion.

• Convenient features such as the auto layout of arrayspeakers and auto setting of speaker parameters areincluded to automatically conduct the important tasks ofspeaker selection, positioning, and setting of speaker array.• The Yamaha Sound System Simulator is free softwarethat can be downloaded from the web.

Main Features:

This section introduces the features in the order used with the software.

Contour Figure: A contour figure for -3dB, -6dBand -9dB of 1/1 octave ba nd is

displayed in the main window .

Sound Pressure LevelDistribution: Choose SPL mode to display thesound pressure level distribution. The soun d pressure leveldistribution for selectedfrequencies and ban dwidths canbe displayed.

Frequency Characteristics Graph: The bandw idth on the f req uencycharacter is t ics graph can be changed

to 1/1, 1/3, 1/6, o r FET.

Check simulation result with your ears throughauralization. The Y-S 3 not only provides visual izat ion wi th galso lets you check the simulation result w ith yusing a sound source. Comparativelistening from multiple receivingpoints can a lso be performed.

Set the speaker array.Choose the speaker array f rom the l i s t and ins ta l l thespeakers in the desired positions. Yamaha Installation

Series are preset in the library andcan be selected easily. Then set position, tilt, pan , rotate ,spray angle , and symmetry for theselected speaker array.

Set various conditions for the speaker array.Simulation beg ins when you select the speakercan change several condi t ions for the speaker a

t ime as you view the s imto opt imize the sound f ieYou can set array, positiorota te , ta rget point , d is tat ime, SP proper t ies, an d o

Set the DME configuration. The Y-S 3 autom at ical ly creates theoutput conf igurat ions based on the se tspeaker array. They are displayed onthe speaker array proper tyconfiguration screen, and delay, PEQ,amp model , and ga in can be se t foreach speaker.

Check directivity of speakerarray (balloon).Balloon data (di rect ivi ty data for eachfrequency) for the speaker array canbe checked on the screen in 3D.Bal loon data is d isplayed for eachfrequency.

STEP 5Save the configuration in DME format. The Y-S 3 automat ical ly generates an output conf igurat ion for a l l

speaker arrays that are ins ta l led , and saves i t in the f ormat ofDME Designer, the applicatio n softw are for DME control. If youuse the Yama ha Dig ital Mixing Engine DME64N or DME24N* asa speaker processor, you can efficiently construct a sound systemwith great er accuracy and minimal effor t .

Simulation result is displayed with visualized diagrams. The Y-S 3 can visual ize the s imulat ion resul t wi th ins tant ly unders tanda ble diagrams l ike those below.

Choose the shape of the venue for simulation.Select from five basictypes: Rectangular, Fan,Circle, Cross, and Polygon. The sha pe chosen isdisplayed in 3D.

Use Floor Edit to better determine the shape ofthe simulation venue.

Floor Edit is performe dfor the hor izonta l f loorplans and vertical crosssect ions wi th the mouse.Uni ts for mea surementscan be se lected f rom feetor meters.

Set the receiving point. The receiving point is usually the heig ht of t he listeners’ears . Select the height f rom the f loor to the receivingsurface from the list box.

Set conditions for the venue for simulation.Enter the se t t ings for the temperatureand humidity of the air (Air Parameters),the phase interference (InterferenceSum), and the coordinates of the personspeaking or performing (Origin Point).
