Your learning will have appropriate measurement applied to the results.

You will be recognised and rewarded for your value and effort.

BEGINNING YOUR YEAR

Your academic year may begin any time through the calendar year.

Diagnostic Testing

At initial commencement of the A.C.E. programme you will be tested for accurate academic

placement. Testing includes material covered from the initial grade to completion of the seventh

grade. All work after PACE unit 1085 is compulsory. These diagnostic tests are necessary to

identify learning gaps. The tests are available in booklet form or online.

Academic Projection

An individual Academic Projection will be prepared to guide you through your entire education

experience. It will be based on the courses of study offered by Accelerated Christian Education,

The International Certificate of Education, UK, and Lighthouse Christian Academy, USA. The

decision regarding the course of study you will follow will be established between your Supervisor,

Parents and yourself. The final document must be signed off by your parents. You are required to

complete a minimum of 30 PACES a semester.

Subject Material

The programme covers six core subjects which include Mathematics, English, Word Building

(Spelling), Science, Social Studies and Literature (including Creative Writing). There are also more

than 20 options and enrichment subjects for choice, making it the most diverse and comprehensive

curricula available to home educators.

4

Page 6: CONTENTS Yada Study Centre...  · Web viewI pledge allegiance to the Bible, God’s Holy Word; I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I will hide its words

The subjects are divided into achievable units called PACEs (Packet of Accelerated Christian

Education). The subjects contain either 5, 6, 10 or 12 PACEs at each academic level. Depending

on the ability of the learner, each PACE unit should take two to three weeks to complete. Every

PACE has specific objectives, goals and built-in assessments designed to ensure mastery of

learning. Mastery learning is essential for educational success. A PACE test is given to you after

each booklet is completed. A minimum of 80% must be scored in order for you to advance with the

next booklet in the PACE series. Scores in Word Building must remain above 90% at all times.

The PACE is the basis of the learning scheme on which additional learning activities, projects,

assignments, resources and enrichment activities are built.

The core curriculum and some elective subjects have audio, DVD or computer explanatory backup.

This complements the PACE work. Yada College has the following back explanation DVDs.

should be raised for supervisor guidance in academic difficulties.

Scoring Procedures

When a score strip is reached in your PACE follow these directions.

Raise the Zimbabwe flag and receive permission to score from the Monitor/Supervisor.

Score your work at the score station. Put a red X in the first box of the score strip and circle

all the page numbers of the pages that are correct only.

Raise your hand so that the monitor/Supervisor can check your work. In Yada College hand

your book to the Supervisor or Monitor so she can see the sections and the progress of your

work.

Return to your office.

Once you have your PACE book back, correct all the incorrect answers and put a pencil X in

the second box. You may NOT continue past the score strip until all incorrect answers have

been corrected, re-scored and seen by the Supervisor or Monitor.

Raise the Zimbabwe Flag for permission to re-score at the score station.11
