Maintenance

• Boat responsible– automatically notified of issues when put in the

log book– boat user is expected to play an active role in the

repair

Opportunity to learn

• Logistics – taking/picking up sails for repair• If there is a problem to signal it and sort it out

and take responsibility for dealing with it.• Boats get a high level of usage so normal

wear and tear occurs.

• Club night – Thursdays @ 18:00• Committee member allocates boats (keys)• Helps to form helm/crews• Keel boats, you’ll still learn

• YCC Regattas – open to all members– There’s friendly rivalry, but go for it.

Mentoring

• Volunteer who’s offered to take a student out on the water as a private outing.

• You will be crew and gives you a chance to get familiar with the boats.

• Ideally you will have one outing before the course starts.

• Up to the mentor and mentee to organize between themselves.

Dinghy Key

Typical Ycc Course Evening

• Starts at 6pm prompt– Get there in advance, have a coffee at the buvette ..

• 30 to 45 mins to rig and launch.• About 8pm the wind stops• Derigging and berthing,

– another 30 mins• Debriefing at buvette, the Green Book

– and occasion to share experiences with other students.

Equipment Required For Dinghy Sailing

• Wetsuit – Not a shorty, – 3/5 mm long legs

• Boots – Keep feet warm, protect them

• Gloves– Without the tips– Wet hands are fragile, pulling wet sheets (ropes)

• Splash Vest, Hat, Sunglasses, Sun cream– Not essential but practical
