WW2 Dancing
On Monday this week, the children in Boscawen Class (Y3) were very lucky to have World War 2 style dance les-
sons from Kate Attwell of Showtime fame! Kate very kindly agreed to come into school and give the children first
hand experience of how people in the 1930-40s would spend their recreational time at dances. The children all
really enjoyed the session and got some great ideas for their WW2 topic work. A huge thank you to Kate for such a
brilliant afternoon and well done to Year 3.
Children in Need
Perranporth School is actively participating in Children in Need, next week. We are running a bring and buy sale
in Year 5's classroom on Friday 16th November and need your help… Can you donate any
unwanted CDs, DVDs, clothes or toys to the sale? If the answer is yes, please send any items in
during that week (ideally before Friday 16th), so that we can organise them into the sale on
Friday afternoon.
Each class will be invited into Year 5's classroom to peruse and purchase items that take their
fancy. If you’d like your child to be able to buy anything at the sale, they will need to come to
school with some change (no more than £2 please and, if possible, a variety of coins).
The children will also be able to dress in their own clothes or fancy dress (spotty or stripes
themed) on Friday 16th, with a voluntary £1 donation suggested for the Children in Need cause.
World Kindness Day
Due to a fantastic idea shared by Erin in Y2 at a recent School Parliament meeting, next week on 13th Nov we will
be recognising ‘World Kindness Day’. Erin made a request that on this day, all of the chil-
dren share a kind word or two about another pupil. School Parliament agreed that this
was a very important day and a great idea; so that’s what we will all be doing next Tues-
day afternoon. Every child will write or say a kind thing to another child and receive one
in return. We all know that saying kind things to others make us feel happy and receiving
them does too. Therefore we’re sure to have a lot of happy children in Perranporth feeling
very good about themselves on World Kindness Day! Thanks Erin for such a great sugges-
tion!
Pages of The Sea - Perranporth Beach
On 11 November, communities will gather on beaches around the UK to
say thank you and goodbye to millions of men and women who left their
shores, many never to return. Danny Boyle invites you to join him to mark
100 years since Armistice and the end of the First World War with Pages
of the Sea.
From noon, join us on Perranporth Beach to help bring Pages of the Sea
to life as a portrait of an individual from the First World War will emerge
from the sand. As the tide rises, the portrait will be washed away as we
take a moment to say a collective goodbye.
Hall for Cornwall Youth will deliver a specially created performance
alongside an interactive installation created by local artists. Bring a
memory in remembrance and your hopes for the future to add to the
installation as we look back and look forward 100 years. You can also
get involved in creating artwork in the sand using stencils of portraits on
the beaches.
