World Language Requirement

Two years of a world language is NOT required to graduate.

However, it is required to:

• Receive the Scholars Diploma; 3 years of the same world

language is required to receive the Scholars with Distinction

Diploma

• Enter a 4 year State University

• Receive Florida Bright Future Scholarships

• Clearinghouse – NCAA

FAILED A CLASS?DON’T WORRY!

Students should use any of the options listed below to make up a class they have failed:

– Seminole County Virtual School – www.flvs.net– PLATO Credit Retrieval Lab during the school day

(space limited)– PLATO Credit Retrieval Lab after school on Mondays,

Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4:30

It is very important for students to meet with their counselor to discuss these options if they failed a

course.

2 Year College or 4 Year University

Research colleges/universities for your intended major before you apply!

It is recommended to achieve an Associates degree if you intend to transfer to a 4 year university.

It is also recommended that you take courses that are within your major and will transfer to a 4 year university.

• Checking the requirements (volunteer service, GPA, ACT/SAT test scores)

• Apply when available after October 1st

• Check the website to see if you are still on track to receive the scholarship and if not, what you can do to ensure you receive it.

REASONS TO AVOID SENIORITIS

# 1 GRADUATION!!!

# 2 Reason Universities greatly frown upon it!

Universities have the option to rescind your admission acceptance if:

• Grades decline.

• GPA decline.

• Drop/Add - Final transcript of courses do not match thelist of courses you indicated on your application.

SAT & ACTStudents are encouraged to begin taking the SAT and/or ACT during the Spring of their Junior Year and again during their Senior year.

Fee waivers are available to students that have free/reduced lunch.

Universities recommend that you send all scores to them via:

Career Preparation• Identify your interests –

What skills do you possess? (Cosmetology, Automotive, Military, etc.)

• Prepare a resume.

• Volunteer to gain work experience.

Military

• Research different branches for the right fit.

• Take the ASVAB (Next test date – October 31, 2017)

• Talk with active or retired military members to discuss their experiences.
