Dear Parents / Guardians:
A warm welcome is extended from the staff at Wolfville School to
all 361 students and their families. A special welcome is extended
to our 32 new primary students and their families as well.
We look forward to working with you, the parents and guardians,
to motivate and challenge your children so that they may reach
their fullest potential.
We are pleased to welcome many new and enthusiastic staff
members to our school community:
Heather Fulton comes to us from Day Services for Youth and
will be teaching at the grade 8 level. Ms. Fulton will be no
stranger to some of you having taught at Wolfville School in the
past. Jill Parlee will be teaching core French to our grade 4’s
and 5’s. Prior to coming to us, Jill had a term position at Horton
High School last year. Celeste Pray will be teaching at the grade
6 level and comes to us from Gaspereau Valley Elementary
School where she also taught at the grade 6 level. Danielle
Leblanc will be teaching Core French at the Middle Level in
addition to having a grade 6 homeroom. Prior to coming to
Wolfville School, Mme LeBlanc was a French teacher at
Annapolis West Educational Centre.
We are pleased that these new appointments will be a fine
compliment to our existing staff.
Unfortunately, due to declining enrollments, we have also
undergone significant reductions in secretarial staffing. For
these reasons, we have had to make changes to both offices.
Mrs. Swinamer will again be working out of the Middle Level
Office but only between the hours of 8:00 am and 11:30 am.
Mrs. Fox and Mrs. Davison will job share again this year and
will work primarily out of the Elementary Office between the
hours of 8:00 am and 11:30 am and 1:00 am and 3:30 pm. They
will also offer support in the Middle Level Office between the
hours of 12:00 pm-1:30 pm. Please note that these times are subject to change however as we all work through this new
arrangement. We will, of course, redirect our phone lines so that
you may always be able to contact your children should the need
arise.
In addition to this reduction in staffing, the issue of school
security has again become an important aspect of our planning.
To this end, we have begun locking the Elementary doors
between 9:00am and 2:45 pm. Though we recognize the
inconvenience to parents and guests, student safety must remain
at the forefront of all our decisions. We ask therefore that
Elementary parents wait for their children on the playground
and that Middle Level parents wait outside on a daily basis.
Parents and visitors are also reminded to sign-in/out at either
office if their children must be picked up prior to the end of day.
We appreciate your support in keeping your children safe.
Hope to see you on September 22nd during our Parent Orientation.
