Sex Education Given Since Childhood
Sex education is necessary for our life. However there are many people argue if sex
education is necessary or not for their life. I, myself think that sex education is very
important and it is one of requirements for our life. Sex education is a kind of
pedagogy explaining not only about sex but also explaining about how to take care of
their health, and to recognize about part of their body, sexual reproduction and etc. In
this case, I will limit my explanation about sex education in sex education for
children particular.
There are some people think that sex education is very important for children growth.
There are some reasons why sex education is very important for children. If sex
education is given since childhood it will help children to be able to be in control of
their attitude (Admin, 2012). Sex education for children does not mean that they are
explained about sex anymore but sex education explains them about giving
abashment for them, giving learning for the children about masculine for boys and
femininity for girls (Nugraha, 2011).
To start sex education for children, parents can explain to their children starting about
body parts, for example children in age 3-10 years old. In this age they want to know
where they born from and parents can explain them by simple word or show them to
a woman pregnant. Sex education can be control for children’s attitude because we
know that, there have been many phenomenon about sex insulting, free sex etc. so in
this case they think that sex education is very important. Dr. Boyke adds that sex
education given since childhood will take care of children from HIV/ AIDS,
unpredictable pregnancy, cervix cancer and etc (Nugraha, 2011).
On the contrary, some people argue sex education is unimportant and unnecessary.
They believe that sex education is near from pornography. They are afraid that when
children given about sex education, children will try to experiment about what they
have got in sex education. They think also that sex education is very taboo for
children (Admin, 2012).
Besides that, parents have misconception about sex education. They think that it is
disobey the role of their belief. Sex education is not necessary for their children.
Parents think that children should learn about sex education when they have been
adult when they have been already to get marry (Nugraha, 2011). As addition, parents
still believe about myths in sex education. There are some myths which they believe,
for example sex education will be leading to be active in sexual and also they think
that sex education will not guarantee getting health life for their children (Chandra,
2011).
To sum up, sex education is considered as taboo and unimportant to under young age,
however, it is also thought to be important thing for children growth to avoid miss
understanding about sex when they have been adult.
Therefore, Sex education should be given since childhood to avoid misconception
about sex when they have been adult. Sex education will give pre knowledge about
sex early and make children are able to be responsible of their attitude. So it will be
better if it is given since childhood. Sex education for children does not mean
explaining about sex any more, but sex education for children can be started from
giving them explanation about separation of their bed, teaching them to always take
care of their healthy genitals, introducing their apposite and giving them learning
about their puberty for example about menstruation and etc. So let’s give children
about sex education to avoid sex insulting and create new generations who are free
from free sex.
