Traffic StudyDue to high traffic, a number of recent incidents, and in the interest

of safety for all of us, the Homeowners Association has asked thecounty to conduct a traffic study at the intersection of Azalea CreekTrail and Wildnerness Hill. The hope is that there is sufficient trafficto warrant adding a couple of stop signs. When you see the cables atthis intersection (hopefully soon!), please help out by trying to runover them as much as you can!

Rob Pazitney is a sophomore at CyFalls High School and hasattained the prestigious award of Eagle Scout. Starting 9 years agoas a Cub Scout and exploring the adventures that scouting offers, hehas reached a goal that only 3% of all scouts strive for andachieve…rank of Eagle Scout.

For his community service project, Rob supervised and led 20 scoutswhich took over 140 hours to complete the building of park benches. These benches have a special meaning because they were installedin the playground of Christian School of Northwest Houston. Thesame school Rob attended in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, andfirst grade. The teachers and staff showed Rob so much love andcaring that he decided to give back his love by building and installing2 new benches and repairing an existing bench at the school. Thesebenches were installed in the playground area so the teachers couldsit and supervise the students during the day and the students couldalso use them as a place to rest. Principal Lucila Villarreal commentedthat her pupils were inspired by Rob’s action and that it was wonderfuland encouraging to see Rob grow into a positive role model.

Rob’s motivation and leadership skills were given the opportunityto grow and thrive in the Boy Scout program. Rob believes all boysshould get a chance to indulge and experience this program whichalso includes camping, cooking, and the great outdoors. Boys learn

Eagle Scout Gives Back To School

how to get along with others and the program teaches them life skills, just like first aid which they can use forever.

Scouting is like an investment. Over time, and done with passion, the outcome is invaluable to the young man and to his community.

Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!

Rob Pazitney

As the holiday season approaches, the kids are excited aboutvacations, gifts, and playing with friends- things children shouldconcern themselves about. As parents, grandparents, guardians, and caring friends, we should know there are other things to preparefor.

We make sure that are children are dressed for the weather, weartheir helmets and knee pads, and eat a healthy diet- but we also haveto prepare our children for other realities.

Does your child know what to do if a stranger asks them for help?Does your child know how to reach you in the event of an emergency?Does your child know your full name? Do you have a recent colorphoto of your child? Do you know all the medications they may betaking? Do you know your child’s friends?

We live in a time where these are just the basics. We can prepareourselves and our children for the dangers that can be just outsideour doors. With just a few basic rules, for both you and your childrencan better prepare you for an emergency situation.1. Teach your children that the police are their friends and that they

can rely on them if they are in trouble.2. Set-up a password. A secret word only between you and your

child. In the event someone else has to pick them up- your childknows only to go with them if they have the password.

3. Teach your children that strangers should not ask a child forassistance. Adults should ask adults for help.

4. Always accompany your child on door-to-door activities.

Prepare Your Child For The Holidays5. Know you neighbors and neighborhood. Regularly check for

registered offenders in your area.6. Rethink the signs on your lawns and vehicles that give strangers

too much information. (Their name, team name, team number, sport, school, address, and vehicle information all in a glance.)

7. You should not put your child’s name on their clothes where it isvisible. Children feel more comfortable around others that alreadyknow their name.

8. Teach your children that no one should ever touch any part oftheir body that a bathing suit would cover.

9. Never leave your child alone in a public place, stroller, or car foreven a minute.

10. Always accompany your child to the restroom in public places. These are just a few of the basics. Too often we hear terrible

stories that break our hearts. We need to start preparing our childrenfor some of the realities that are just outside our doors. We also needto prepare them from some invaders in our homes, namely the Internet.Know where your children are going. Put a computer in a place thatyou as an adult can easily see where they are and what informationthey are giving out. Use the tools that are out there that filter out thegarbage you don’t want your children to see.
