GATHERING AROUND THE WORD

CAMBRIDGE CHIMES WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

GREETING EACH OTHER Ringing of Bell

PRELUDE “Toccatina” ~Lardelli Lighting of the candles

*CALL TO WORSHIP L: Sisters and brothers in the One we call “Christ,” why do you come here this

hour? P: We come to worship, give thanks, and sing hymns like Paul and Silas. L: Will you sing with your whole hearts? P: We will sing with joy, with thankful hearts, and with voices to honor our

God. L: Will you listen to God’s Word? P: We will be like trees planted by streams, and we will drink deeply from

God’s Word. L: Let us worship God like it matters. P: May we unleash God’s Spirit of Worship, and may all draw close to God

this hour!

*HYMN #2223 “They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love”

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) God of Truth and Honor, we long to sing praises to you, but too often our hearts and our actions are singing praises to other gods. Ignoring You and your unconditional love, we look to our money, our homes, our jobs, our abilities or other things to find satisfaction. We spend our time working for those things and not for you. They become the true gods in our lives, not you. Please forgive us. Break the hold these “gods” have on us, Merciful One. Grant us the strength to look only to you and to worship only you. Heal our hearts and help our voices sing you praises.

(silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON L: Sisters and brothers, in Jesus the Christ, God has overcome sin, broken its

hold on you. Know that in Christ’s resurrection power you are freed from sin and you are forgiven. Go and sin no more

P: Thanks be to God for freedom from sin and for the cleansing of our hearts. Amen and amen.

CHOIR ANTHEM “Alleluia, Praise” ~Cherubini (1760-1842)

SCRIPTURE READINGS Psalm 1:1-3 p. 424 Acts 16:23-34 p. 901 L: This is the word of the Lord P: Thanks be to God!

SERMON “Unleashing the Spirit of Worship for All” Rev. Tedd Pullano *HYMN #467 “How Great Thou Art”

*Worshipers please stand (as you are able)

OFFERING OUR GIFTS TO GOD

OFFERING INVITATION OFFERING OUR GIFTS TO GOD OFFERTORY “Reflection” ~Wagner

*DOXOLOGY #542, v.4

*PRAYER OF DEDICATION (unison) Worthy God, please accept our humble offering this day. You continue to walk with us and bless us with more than we need, so we offer back to you a portion of your blessings. Use these gifts, we ask, to unleash your spirit of Worship, so all creation can sing and hear your glory and feel your love.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

JOYS AND CONCERNS PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER (unison) “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.”

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD & STOCKINGS FOR SOLDIERS

The Mission Committee Needs your help!

Operation Christmas Child has already begun, and we are asking you to fill the “Special Boxes” that have been donated by the Deacons. (Thank you, Deacons!) Last year we filled 35 boxes. The boxes will be on the Mission Table along with the packing information. This year, again, NO TOOTHPASTE OR CANDY, PLEASE! Please also remember to include a

check for $9.00 to cover the cost of shipping (or you can pay online). The deadline for Operation Christmas Child donations is Sunday, November 18th.

We’re also asking you to fill Christmas Stockings for our military. Last year 37 stockings were filled. A

special box will be placed on the Mission Table along with copies of the “Wish List” for you to take home.

The deadline for Stockings for Soldiers will be announced soon. Thank you for your generosity

and support! ~The Missions Committee

PW GIFT JAR FUNDRAISER With the holiday season around the corner, we will be offering gift jars for sale. The soup mix gift jar is $5, and the dessert mix gift jar is $8. You may preorder

between October 14th and November 16th by giving your order form and payment to Barb White or Marilyn Malloy. The gift jars will be available for pickup after the worship service on December 2nd and 9th. They make great gifts for family members and friends! Please see the PW bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall for more

information. Thank you for your support!
